The unit is a corded phone with a neon light. It is powered by 120V AC and the neon light part is operated with 40kHz. Neon Light: Connect 120V AC source to the AC-DC adaptor. A DC source passes though a regulator, oscillator and step up transformer. Then, a high frequency high voltage pulse driving the neon tube. When the neon switch is in the βONβ position, the light will remain on while the handset is on the base, but will shut off when the handset is lifted. If the neon switch is in the βOFFβ position, the neon light will remain off except for when receiving a call. Incoming calls always flash the neon light.
