Best Regards, Lucy Mike Kuo <[email protected]> 2003/09/03 02:52 AM "'[email protected]'" <[email protected]>, Mike Kuo <[email protected]> "Eric (E-mail)" <[email protected]>, "Jonson Lee (E-mail)" <[email protected]>, "Lucy (E-mail)" <[email protected]>, "Ting (E-mail)" <[email protected]> RE: FW: Tapwave, Inc., FCC ID:REI001, NA03T3210 Hi Lucy : Question #1: Below is the FCC Part 15.247 (a)(1) requirements: (1) Frequency hopping systems shall have hopping channel carrier frequencies separated by a minimum of 25 kHz or the 20 dB bandwidth of the hopping channel, whichever is greater. The system shall hop to channel frequencies that are selected at the system hopping rate from a pseudorandomly ordered list of hopping frequencies. Each frequency must be used equally on the average by each transmitter. The system receivers shall have input bandwidths that match the hopping channel bandwidths of their corresponding transmitters and shall shift frequencies in synchronization with the transmitted signals. You have to provide 20dB bandwidth measurement to be used for frequency separation compliance. Please provide 20dB bandwidth measurement. Best Regards Mike Kuo -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, September 01, 2003 1:24 AM To: Mike Kuo Cc: Eric (E-mail); Jonson Lee (E-mail); Lucy (E-mail); Ting (E-mail) Subject: FW: Tapwave, Inc., FCC ID:REI001, NA03T3210 Hi Mike, Page 1 TCB Q and A.txt Please refer to the below for the reply for Q1-3. For Q1, we don't think it's necessary to measure 20dB bandwidth because it has been taken off in the version of FCC Part 15, 2003. 3, 13. So please check if it's still required. For Q2, we totally did have verified four modes: PDA itself with three orthogonal axes and PDA with cradle, and recorded the worst one: PDA with cradle. Please refer to the page 6 of revised test report for test modes description. For Q3, we have revised it and please refer to the revised test report for details. Best Regards, Lucy Mike Kuo <[email protected]> 2003/08/29 02:36 AM "Eric (E-mail)" <[email protected]>, "Lucy (E-mail)" <[email protected]>, "Ting (E-mail)" <[email protected]> "Jonson Lee (E-mail)" <[email protected]> FW: Tapwave, Inc., FCC ID:REI001, NA03T3210 -----Original Message----- From: CERTADM Sent: Thursday, August 28, 2003 10:34 AM To: '[email protected]' Subject: Tapwave, Inc., FCC ID:REI001, NA03T3210 Notice_content ------------- Question #1: Please provide 20dB Bandwidth plots . Question #2: The EUT is handheld device, per ANSI C63.4 section 13.1.4.1 requirement, handheld device shall be investigated with the device rotated through three orthogonal axes during radiated emission tests. In the test report, there is no indication that such procedure was performed. Please confirm the test procedrues and/or provide additional test data. Question #3: Please modify section 7.7 of test report. Basically, the information presented in section 7.7 provide enough information address RF exposure requirement. However, this device is handheld PDA which is classified as portable device per section 2.1093 of FCC rules. For portable device, if the output power is below the low threhold, SAR evaluation is not required. MPE estimate can not be used to address portable RF exposure compliance. Once you determine the SAR evaluation is not applicable for portable device, you do not need to provide any additional information to address RF exposure compliance. Please delete MPE estimate from the test report. Best Regards Mike Kuo The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information within 30 days of the original e-mail date may result in application dismissal and forfeiture of the filing fee. Also, please note Page 2 TCB Q and A.txt that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted.
