Dual-band Wireless LAN USB Adapter User Manual Rev 0.8 2 Federal Communication Commission Interference Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Network Implementation Using The product There are two possible types of wireless network configurations using the product: (1) Infrastructure (wireless network using an Access Point) Using the Client/Server or Master/Slave concept, an Access Point is used to link a wired network with wireless clients. Not only can the wireless clients access the wired network but they can also access each other via the Access Point. Multiple Access Points can be used in the same infrastructure network in order to extend the wireless network range or share the workload of handling more wireless clients. (2) Ad-Hoc (wireless network not using an Access Point) Since there is no Access Point to act as a link to a wired network, wireless network nodes can only access each other but cannot access a wired network or the Internet. 2. Before Installation Package Contents Unpack and confirm that the following contents (in addition to this User Manual) are included: Dual-band WLAN USB Adapter (1 ea.) Installation CD (1 ea.) Quick Installation Guide (1 ea.) To Prepare Before Installation Ask your system administrator for the following information, which you may need to input during installation: - Your SSID (group name of the wireless network) 7 - If you are using a fixed IP address: IP address, gateway address, and subnet mask info. To use the Dual-band Wireless LAN USB Adapter, the device must be equipped with an internal or external USB slot. FCC ID: SI5-WUB500A or SI5WUB500A After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) The 731 form shows a β-β in the FCC ID, but the label does not. Please confirm the correct FCC ID for this device. 2) The spectrum analyzer given on page 33, 43, 46, 85, 96, 103, 110, 120, 126 & 129 appears out of calibration. 3) Compliance for the 5725 β 5825 Band appears to show some data for 15.247 and some data for 15.409. Note compliance must be completely shown to one band, the other, or both. Most data provided is for 15.247. However, the spectral density limit on page 131 should be +8 dBm. The antenna types used Dipole and Print antenna in this product, Dipole antenna with UFL connector and Printed antenna without antenna. Under normal use condition, the user has to keep at least 20cm separation distance between radiator and the body of the user. This device is a USB2.0 802.11a/b/g wireless network adapter, which operates in both of the 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands and can transmitting simultaneously, the maximum data rate could be 54Mbps. For more detailed instruction, please take a look at the userβs manual. FCC 15.407(c) states: The device shall automatically discontinue transmission in case of either absence of information to transmit or operational failure. These provisions are not intended to preclude the transmission of control or signaling information or the use of repetitive codes used by certain digital technologies to complete frame or burst intervals. Applicants shall include in their application for equipment authorization a description of hoe this requirement is metβ Data transmission is always initiated by software, which is then pass down through the MAC, through the digital and analog baseband, and finally to the RF chip. Several special packets (ACKs, CTS, PSPoll, etc...) are initiated by the MAC. There are the only ways the digital baseband portion will turn on the RF transmitter, which it then turns off at the end of the packet. Therefore, the transmitter will be on only while one of the aforementioned packets are being transmitted.
