INTRODUCTION The purpose of this document is to describe the hardware architecture of the Mitsubishi Type VGH08. There are two versions of it, called M430i and M900. The two models share the same hardware. The M430i is a ‘I- Mode’ product whereas the M900 is the ‘MMS’ version. Only ‘M430i’ will be used in the following chapters Figure 1 : Overall Diagram The M430i is a tri-band GSM 2G multimedia mobile phone, including GPRS (Class 10) features. TRANSCEIVER ARCHITECTURE The M430i uses an integrated transceiver for multi-band GSM/GPRS. This highly integrated solution eliminates the IF SAW filter, external low noise amplifiers (LNAs) for three bands, transmit and RF voltage- controlled oscillator (VCO) modules. The receive section uses a digital low-IF architecture that avoids the difficulties associated with direct conversion while delivering lower solution cost and reduced complexity. The transmit section is a complete up-conversion path from the baseband subsystem to the power amplifier, and uses an offset phase-locked loop (PLL) with a fully integrated transmit VCO. The frequency synthesizer uses proven technology that includes integrated RF and IF VCOs, varactors, and loop filters. The unique integer-N PLL architecture produces a transient response superior in speed to fractional-N architectures without suffering the high phase noise or s…

The device has an integrated antenna. The system concepts used are the GSM 900, GSM 1800 and PCS 1900 standards including GPRS capability with 2 TX slots (Class 10). The objective of the measurements done by IMST was the dosimetric assessment of one device in the PCS 1900 standard. The examinations have been carried out with the dosimetric assessment system ÑDASY4ì. The measurements were made according to the Supplement C to OET Bulletin 65 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Guidelines [FCC 2001] for evaluating compliance of mobile and portable devices with FCC limits for human exposure (general population) to radiofrequency emissions. All measurements have been performed in accordance to the recommendations given by SPEAG. The Mitsubishi 430i mobile phone (FCC ID: SIJVGH8) is in compliance with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Guidelines [FCC 2001] for uncontrolled exposure. The phone was tested for the following configurations: • Body Worn with the following accessories and combinations with 15 mm distance: GSM mode (1 TX slot) with headset GPRS mode (2 TX slots, Class 10) prepared by: ........................................... reviewed by: ..............................................
