Users Manual

600W High Pressure Sodium User’s Manual- HID HUT Features: 1. This 600 Watt HPS ballast is capable of operating a 600 Watt High Pressure Sodium Bulbs. 2. The Digital Circuitry replaces the inefficient magnetic ballasts, and can reduce power consumption (current) up to 30% 3. The Digital Circuitry is designed to operate under unstable power conditions with an operating range from -25% power to +15% power, and the output wattage does not change! This means more protection from power outages or fluctuations. 4. The output voltage is regulated and stable, and the luminescence of the bulb is steady without “flames”. This extends the life of your bulbs, and increases the performance. 5. The Digital Circuitry also has safety features. It can prevent accidents from open circuits- if there is an open circuit the ballast does not turn on. It goes into a standby mode for 10 minutes, at which point it checks for a closed circuit and tries again. 6. If the lamp does not fire- the ballast discontinues power, and attempts to fire the bulb only once every 10 minutes. Magnetic ballasts continue supplying full power to a bulb which is off- reducing the life of the bulb. Ballast Installation and Usage: 1. The ballast must be equipped with a 600W bulb- High Pressure Sodium only. 2. Ensure all connections between ballast and bulb are securely wired and insulated. 3. Plug ballast into any 120V wall outlet. It is a good idea to use a surge suppressor. 4. There are no on switches. When the ballast is plugged in it should be on. Precautions: 1. There is over 3KV voltage on the output wires, so the power must be off when installing ballast, repairing connections, plugging in bulbs or any maintenance. 2. If it is subjected to voltage outside it’s suggested operating range it can become damaged. 3. It’s normal operating temperatures are between -40 and +122 degrees Fahrenheit. If you exceed these temperatures in the vicinity of the ballast, the life of the ballast will be diminished. 4. Because of the character of gas lamps, they should only be restarted after having been given sufficient time to cool. The ballast automatically regulates this to ten minutes. 5. Ballast should not be exposed to water. 6. The ballast should not be used in the vicinity of any combustible or volatile materials. Warning: Disconnect line voltage before installing or replacing. Ballast case must be grounded. FCC Warning Statement The manufacturer is not responsible for any radio or TV interference caused by unauthorized modification to this equipment. Such modification could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. This product many cause interference to radio equipment and should not be installed near maritime safety communications equipment or other critical navigation or communication equipment between 0.150 – 30 MHz

Operational Description

Installing and Using Details of HID electronic ballast 1It should be equipped with the specified lamp, otherwise it will result in flick or damage the bulb. Please do not use MH bulbs to test HPS electronic ballast, or use HPS bulbs to test MH electronic ballast. 2There is exceeding 3KV voltage at output terminal of the electronic ballast, so the power must be shut off while installing, repairing and testing. 3It can work stably for lon g time in its specified voltage and be sure not to exceed this range. 4Its operate circumstance is –40 to +50.If you exceed the temperature the life-span of the product will be shorted. 5Because of the character of the metal halide lamp, you should restart the lamp after it is cooled down enough if it is shut off, you should wait for about 10 minutes. Ballast can control this process automatically.(When the lamps are shut off, the ballast will go into protection condition, and will not work even the user ne glects to restart the bulbs which have a high temperature, and the ballast will restart to work until the bulbs cool down enough. 6Please put the ends without wires of the electronic ballast upward when the ballast installed outdoor , this ballast has the waterproof design, but still cannot be used in water for a long time. 8Try to avoid the ballast being used in high temperature for a long time, and try to make it far away from the high temperature when installing.

The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 100 kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. The analyzer was calibrated in dB above a microvolt at the output of the antenna. The resolution bandwidth was 100KHz and the video bandwidth was 300kHz. The ambient temperature of the UUT was 86oF with a humidity of 56%. Formula Of Conversion Factors: The field strength at 3m was established by adding the meter reading of the spectrum analyzer (which is set to read in units of dBuV) to the antenna correction factor supplied by the antenna manufacturer. The antenna correction factors are stated in terms of dB/m. The gain of the Pre-selector was accounted for in the Spectrum Analyzer Meter Reading. Example: Freq (MHz) Meter Reading + ACF +coax loss = FS 33 20 dBuV + 10.36 dB+3.10 = 46.66 dBuV/m @ 3m Power Line Conducted Interference: The procedure used was ANSI Standard C63.4- 2003 using a 50uH LISN. Both lines were observed. The bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 10kHz with an appropriate sweep speed. ANSI Standard C63.4-2003 10.1.7 Measurement Procedures: The unit under test was placed on a table 80 cm high and with dimensions of 1m by…
