1. Before You Begin 1.1 Overview l Target client The user who uses Invengo RFID handheld reader products l Software application The RFID handheld reader demo software applies to multiple types of RFID handheld readers, demonstrating the function and parameters setting of the RFID handheld reader. l Features The software applies to multiple types of RFID handheld reader products, integrating many functions including barcode reading and photographing. 1.2 Application Scope The software applies to following types of Invengo RFID handheld readers: l XC2903 l XC2901-FUF 1.3 Supported Operation Systems and Protocols l Supported Operation Systems Windows CE 5.0 Windows CE 6.0 l Supported protocols ISO18000-6C ISO18000-6B 1.4 Knowledge to prepare l Install or uninstall software in Windows CE system. l Basic concepts of the reader and the tag l Basic operations of the RFID handheld reader 1.5 Terms and Abbreviations RFID: Radio Frequency Identification, also called electronic tag or wireless radio frequency identification, is a type of communication technique that could identify target object and read/write relevant data through radio signal. TID: Tag Identification, referring to data stored within TID data memory section, as the unique identification of a tag, could be read but not be modified. EPC: Electronic Product Code, the new generation of product coding system disclaimed by EPCglobal, allowing every product to have the unique code over the world, could be read and written. UserData: User Data, referring to data stored within user data memory section, defined by user, could be reader and written. 1.6 FCC Compliance Statement This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: -- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. -- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. -- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. -- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. FCC RF exposure Statement The exposure standard for wireless devices employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate(SAR). The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg. The highest SAR level measured for this device isW/kg, so this device meets the FCC Requirement. This device and its antenna(s) must not be co‐located or operation in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. 1.06 2. Application Instruction 2.1 Open the Interface Open the demo software, the main i nterface will show as below: Figure 2-1 the main interface l Explorer: To open the explore in the system l Control Panel: To open the control panel in the system. l View process: To open the process viewer in the system. “PDA”, “RFID”, “Barcode”, “Ti meSync” and “Camera” will be described in detail below. 2.2 RFID RFID module i s used for demonstrating the function of radio frequency identifi cation on the RFID handheld reader, including operations on the tag. 2.2.1 Read tag Click the button, the RFID interface will come up as below: Figure 2-2 RFID interface l Clear: To clear the scanning results in the table. l Read: To perform loop reading. l Option: To set reader parameters and tag operations. Click the button “Scan” (the button will be transferred to “Stop” after clicking), the reader will perform loop scanning. That means a tag will be scanned for many times. Then, the data and scanning times of the tag will be listed in the table. The loop scanning will not be stopped until you click the button “Stop” (the button will be transferred to “Scan” after clicking). The example is shown as figure 2-3. Note: scanning can also be performed by pressing the key [SCAN] on the RFID handheld reader. Figure 2-3 read As shown in the figures above, the scanning state (incl uding reading time, reading rate and tag amount) will be displayed under the table. If the data of the last time is not cleared, the current scanning data will be added to the previous data. In the same word, the scanning times will be added to the value displayed at the last stop instead of 0. If you would li ke to count the scanning times from 0, please click “Clear”. Then, the data of the last scanning will be cleared and could perform a new time of scanning. The software is set to read TID of tags in default. The reading settings could be changed in “Read set”. Click “Option”, the interface is shown as figure 2-4. Figure 2-4 RFID option The read settings and other settings will be introduced in detail below. 2.2.2 Read Settings Path: RFID --> Option --> Read Set Settings: Data area, Tag amount, Read interval, TID Length, Tag Type, RSSI, Sound, Char. displ ay. The interface is shown as figure 2-5. Figure 2-5 Read Settings • Data area: ∘ TID_6C: TID data memory section of 6C tag. The default l ength is 8 bytes. ∘ EPC_6C: EPC data memory section of 6C …
