Dear Sir REFERENCE: Timco Engineering email dated 11 November 2006 (Job 2984AU6) In response to the above email, please find details addressing the 2 enquiries as follow: (a) EUT marketing methods ƒ The equipment is never sold at retail or to the general public. We manufacture and sell our products only to licensed users. ƒ The equipment is sold through only exclusive and formal license arrangements. ƒ Only PGIC (a system integrator company) is licensed by Magellan to install this equipment in the USA. ƒ PGIC technicians are professionally trained in installation methods and procedures by Magellan and by PGIC. ƒ PGIC already has trained professional installers to ensure that equipment is professionally installed and supervised. (b) Professional installation ƒ The following statement has being included in the user manual, important information section, installation sub-section (at page 2): ƒ Magellan’s RFID reader-writers are to be professionally installed by authorized, qualified and service-trained installation personnel only. ƒ Section 4.1.5 and 4.1.6 of the user manual describe the hardware and software installation of the antenna respectively. ƒ The antenna software set-up at section 4.1.6 refers to Reader Manager Guide (40-10-006-DOC) for detailed instructions using the Wizard tool in Reader Setup (Section 6.8) to properly set-up the antenna. A copy of the new User Manual and Reader Manager Guide (40-10-006-DOC) are attached for your reference. Dear Sir REFERENCE: Timco Engineering email dated 4 November 2006 (Job 2984AU6) In response to the above email, prior to submitting the device for FCC Certification we consulted Timco Engineering regarding the FCC requirement for a unique connector. A response from Rita Choi was received (attached – Annex A). In the email it stated that we must demonstrate that the antenna will be professionally installed in three aspects. The device, in our opinion, meets these aspects in that: Point 1. Marketing. Page 2 of the user manual states that the product must be installed and maintained by professional service trained personnel only. Point 2. Nature of the Application. The devices are intended solely for the use by casinos in the gaming industry. On installation the antennas are embedded in the casino tables to which only professional people will have access. The general public do not have any knowledge about the installation of the devices and therefore do not have general access. Point 3. Installation. Section 3 of the user manual contains a dedicated section relating to antenna installation. Section 15.203 of the FCC Rules and Regulations states that the requirement of a unique connector is not required if the intentional radiator is professionally installed. We feel that we satisfy the requirements of a professional installation. A copy of the User manual is attached for reference. Sincerely Yours, Chief Engineer 65 Johnston Street Annandale NSW 2038 Phone: +61 2 9562-9800 Fax: +61 2 9518-7620 Web: http://www.magtech.com.au E-mail:[email protected] ANNEX A – EMAIL FROM RITA CHOI From: Rita Choi To: 'Ken McAnulty' Sent: Friday, September 22, 2006 8:01 AM Subject: RE: Antenna Connection Hi Ken, Thanks! That is what I need. I discussed with engineers. To challenge FCC requirement for a unique connector, you shall demonstrate your antenna will be professionally installed in three aspects 1. Marketing. In user's manual, you shall spell out clearly the requirement and the intention of professional installation 2. The nature of the application. You shall convince FCC the general population will not easily have access to your device. For example, your device is installed in a remote area only oil company employees can have access or installed on the roof and few people will climb there to modify it. 3. details about how to install the antenna professionally. If the RFID you put under the gambling table at casino meets the above three considerations, you are okay. Please contact me if you have further questions. Rita
