LOSTnFOUND TRACKER ™ USER MANUAL 3-14-2007 Table of Contents Introduction ............................................................................................................................... 3 Batteries and Power.................................................................................................................... 4 Operation .................................................................................................................................. 5 Statement of FCC Compliance ................................................................................................. 6 One-Year Warranty .................................................................................................................. 7 2 Introduction The LOSTnFOUND Tracker™ consists of a Base unit, four flashing beeper Fobs, and an AC adapter. Attach a Fob to an object and the next time that you need to locate it, turn on the Base and press the matching color button on the Base. The Base signals the selected Fob to then beep and flash. The beeps and flashes will help to lead you to the Fob. The Base can be powered either by the AC adapter or its internal batteries. INSERT PICTURES / CAPTIONS FOR BASE, FOBS, AND AC ADAPTER 3 Batteries and Power Base Battery and AC Adapter The Base unit can be powered either by its internal standby CR2450 cell battery or the 3VDC AC adapter. To use the AC adapter, plug the main adapter unit into a convenient wall outlet and plug the connector on the end of the adapter cable into the mating connector on the bottom of the Base. If you are using the AC adapter, the Base can be powered on all of the time. The standby CR2450 cell battery is designed to power the Base unit during power outages. However, powering the Base using the internal battery is also useful when you are searching outdoors or far away from a wall outlet. If you are using the internal battery, the Base should be turned off between searches. The typical battery life for the Base battery is four years (following the guidelines listed above). It is recommended that the Base unit be plugged in, in a central location of the home, such as a foyer, kitchen or family room. To replace the Base battery, use a small Phillips head screwdriver (X) to remove the four screws on the bottom of the Base and lift off the bottom cover. Gently pry the battery from the holder and insert a new battery. Position the bottom cover onto the top cover and replace the four screws. Fob Battery Each of the Fobs is powered by a single CR2450 battery. The typical battery life for the Fob battery is approximately three years. To replace the Fob battery, use a small Phillips head screwdriver (X) to remove one screw. Gently pull the top and bottom covers apart. Gently pry the battery from the holder and insert a new battery. Position the top cover over the bottom cover and replace the one screw. Both the Base and Fobs contain a monitoring circuit that will alert you when the battery should be replaced. The Light Emitting Diode (LED) on either the Base or Fobs will blink with a RED color approximately every 60 seconds when the battery is near the end of its useful life. For both the Base and Fobs, replace the batteries if the product does not function properly. 4 INSERT PICTURES / CAPTIONS FOR BASE & FOB BATTERY REPLACEMENT Operation Attach the Fob to the object using it key ring or double-sided adhesive pad. Place the pad on the back side of the Fob, beneath the product label. To locate a missing object: 1. Turn on the Base by pushing the power switch on the left side toward the top of the unit. The Base LED will turn on and show a GREEN color. 2. Press and release the button on the Base that matches the color of the Fob that you are trying to locate. 3. The Base now sends out a search signal to the Fobs. During the search, the Base LED will indicate a YELLOW color. If the signal is received by the Fob, it will respond with a series of beeps and GREEN LED flashes. It may be necessary to move around the area and press the button several times before you are able to locate the object. The Base and Fob will communicate within a 100-foot range. 4. Turn off the Base by pushing the power switch on the left side toward the bottom of the unit. The Base LED will then turn off. TO PREVENT LOSING THE BASE, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS RETURN IT TO A KNOWN PLACE WHEN NOT IN USE. 5 Statement of FCC Compliance WARNING: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
