The H913E is designed to operate only in the United States with GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) networks. Users do not need to operate the device directly because the device is fully automatic. However, users must comply with safety instructions. Please contact your sales representative of Honda America if you have any problems. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: - this device may not cause harmful interference, and - this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications made to this equipment not expressly approved by SAGE Co., Ltd. may void the FCC authorization to operate this equipment. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. The design of this Car Telematics Control Unit complies with the FCC guidelines and those standards. The installation of the device is performing by the manufacturer at the rear window of the car and ensures at least 20cm distance to any person inside or outside of the car. Modifications or antenna replacement not expressly approved by, Honda R&D Co., Ltd. could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. To comply with RF safety requirements please follow the installation instructions provided by the manufacture and maintain a minimum separation distance of 20cm. from the antenna to any human body. All installation is performed by authorized Honda America engineers, and the user of the car will not be installing or touching the device at any conditions. 4.2 Opration Users do not need to operate H913E directory because H913E is a full automatic. H913E will be turned on when the car ignition is on.

Due to the construction and the position of the antenna a distance under normal operating conditions of 20 cm or more is guaranteed. Additionally the user manual state: The installation of the device is performing by the manufacturer at the rear window of the car and ensures at least 20cm distance from the antenna to any person inside or outside of the car. The maximum output power of the Burst 1729 mW (32.38 dBm = 30.24 dBm ERP + 2.14 dB). R egarding MPE limits, GPUC environment limits maximum exposure to 1 mW/cm 2 . For 848.8 MHz maximum exposure limit is: f/1500= 848.8/1500= 0.57mW/cm 2 . The power density is: S = E 2 /3770=-13 H 2 = limit < 1 mW/cm 2 Where: S = Power density (mW/cm 2 ) E = electrical field strength (V/m) This formula converted using the EIRP at 20 cm. is: P out *G/4π*r 2 mW/cm 2 1729/4π*400 = 0.344 mW/cm 2 Further, the device uses the GSM protocol, which is a TDD format ratio of 1/8 in GSM mode and 4/8 in GPRS mode. Calculations are based on standard formula for calculating field strength at a distance and converting power density using free space impedance.
