Decorative Neon Lamp Operating and Safety Instructions - FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY - 2 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using this or any other electrical appliance, always follow these basic safety precautions: NOTE: This product operates with an Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) listed Power Adapter. The combined Adapter and Neon Lamp have not been evaluated for UL listing. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE. WARNING-- To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or serious personal injury: • Keep this product out of the reach of children and pets. This is an electric product – not a toy! It is not intended for use by children. Extra caution and close supervision are necessary when using this product near children. Definitions Whenever used, the following identify safety and property damage messages and designate a level of hazard seriousness. - This is the safety alert symbol. It alerts you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible injury or death. DANGER – Indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. Usage of this signal word is limited to the most extreme situations. WARNING – Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. CAUTION – Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, may result in minor/moderate injury. NOTICE – Addresses practices not related to personal injury, such as product and/or property damage. 3 • Always ensure the product is unplugged from the electrical outlet and allowed to cool before assembling, disassembling, relocating, or cleaning it. Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when it is not in use. • Do not leave the product unattended while it is in use, especially when children are present. • Never place the product where it may fall into a sink or other water/liquid filled container. If the product falls into water/liquid, immediately unplug it from the electrical outlet. Do not touch or reach into the water/liquid. • Do not plug or unplug the product from the electrical outlet with a wet hand. • Do not use the product near flames or other sources of heat. • If using an extension cord with this product, the marked electrical rating of the cord set must be at least as great as the electrical rating of the product. • To disconnect the product from an electrical outlet, pull directly on the Adapter; do not pull on the power cord. • Handle the Glass Tube with care. Do not handle damaged or broken glass with bare hands; always wear gloves. CAUTION-- To reduce the risk of personal injury or product and/or property damage: • This product is intended solely for personal, non-commercial, non- industrial, indoor household decorative purposes only. Do not use outdoors or for any other purpose. • Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the product manufacturer. • Do not allow the power cord to hang (e.g., over the edge of a table or counter) or position it and the Adapter where they may be tripped over or pulled. • Always position the product on a flat, level, stable, heat-resistant surface. • Do not operate the product if it has a damaged or cut Adapter cord or plug, if wires are exposed, if it malfunctions or is dropped or damaged. This product has no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to examine or repair this product yourself. Only qualified service personnel should perform any servicing; take the product to the appliance repair shop of your choice for inspection and repair. 4 • Do not put any stress on the Adapter plug where it connects to the product, as the Adapter cord could fray and break. This device complies with part 18 of the FCC rules. Warning: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. This equipment should not be installed near maritime safety communications equipment or other critical navigation or communication equipment operating between 0.45-30MHz. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: † Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. † Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. † Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. † Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE 5 Parts To Use 1. Place the Base on a flat, level, stable, heat- resistant surface. 2. Gently insert the Decorative Neon Tube into the socket of Base. 3. Connect the Adapter to the Base and then plug it into a 120-volt AC electrical outlet. 4. Push the On/Off Switch on the front of the Base to the “On” position (see illustration). NOTE: Unplug the Adapter when the product will not be in use for an extended period of time. 6 Care and Maintenance WARNING: Always make sure the product is unplugged from the electrical outlet and completely cool before assembling, disassembling, relocating, or cleaning it. • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or pads on the product. • Use a soft, dry or water-dampened cloth to wipe the product’s surfaces. Models difference: Each model has same circuit and PCB layout except for neon tube shape and the power: A14D1402 is same to A014DA01402 except model number the power is 3.5W A14D1403 is same to A014DA01403 except model number the power is 3.5W A14D1406 is same to A014DA01406 except model number the power is 4W A14D1474 is same to A014DA01474 except model number the power is 3.5W A14D1475 is same to A014DA01475 except model number the power is 4W Model A14D1402 is the typically model. We have checked all models and presented the worse case in the report For electronic filing, the brief circuit description is saved with filename: Technical description .pdf. 1.2 Related Submittal(s) Grants No other related submitted grants. 1.3 Test Methodology Both AC mains line-conducted and radiated emission measurements were performed according to the procedures in FCC/OST MP-5 (1986). Conducted emission test was performed in shield room and radiated emission test was done in Semi-anechoic chamber.
