The GPS device that keeps track of your kid. No matter what planet he’s on. Getting Started As you look at your new Amber Alert GPS 2G (AAGPS 2G) you will notice a few things. First, there is not an ON or OFF button. Your unit is on all of the time. It can’t be turned off by your child or anyone one else. It can only be deactivated by a command from your cell phone. The charging port is located on the side of the AAGPS 2G. Your unit comes with a charger but is compati- ble with many standard cell phone chargers. Immediately charge your unit for at least 12 hours before first time use. Please charge next to a window to door to receive a strong GPS signal. We recommend that you charge your unit each evening so that when your child goes out the door you have the confidence that the unit will be at its peak performance. The Alert button (SOS button), located on top of the AAGPS 2G, is for use in an emergency. Holding down this button for five seconds or more sends an alert to your pre-determined emergency contacts. Setting Up your Amber Alert GPS 2G When you purchase an AAGPS 2G you receive a confirmation e-mail with your unit’s phone number. This email also contains instructions on how to set up your user account and log in. If you did not receive or cannot find this confirma- tion email please contact customer service at 1-888-334-3958. When setting up your device, you'll be asked to give your device a name. You'll also need to set up preferences like feet/meters, MPH/Kilometers, Fahrenheit or Celcius, etc. You will determine the trusted individuals you want notified when your child presses the Alert (SOS) button. If you haven’t already set up your AAGPS 2G user account, please do so now at amberalertgps.com (top right hand corner). A step by step tuto- rial will assist you in programming your unit. It’s simple—but if you have prob- lems you can ask your kids to help you. NOTE: the device will not work unless this step is completed. Your Cell Phone and Amber Alert GPS 2G After your AAGPS 2G has been charged, use your cell phone to dial the unit’s phone number. In less than a minute you will receive a text mes- sage back from the unit. The text message will display: •The name of the unit. (The name you chose when setting it up.) •The address of where the unit is currently located. (If an address cannot be converted from the latitude and longitude, then it will show the latitude and longitude coordinates.) •The status of the battery, GPS signal and speed. •A URL link to a map showing the location of the unit. (A web enabled phone allows you to go directly to the map.) Using your AAGPS 2G is that easy. There are 3 easy ways to locate your child: call the device (mentioned above), text the device or click the “Locate Now” button on the tracking website. Basic 75 Location Requests/Alerts per month (by text or web) plus the SOS and temperature alerts. Premium 150 Location Requests/Alerts per month (by call, text, or web) plus SOS, temperature, safe zone, speed, page and destination alert. Unlimited Unlimited Location Requests/Alerts per month (by call, text, or web) plus SOS, temperature, safe zone, speed, page, destination alert and bread crumbing. Voice Monitoring can be added to the Premium and Unlimited Subscriptions only. Alerts All the functions of the AAGPS 2G can be accessed from your cell phone with text messages or from the tracking website. Here is a list of text commands. SOS* To deactivate: text nosos (remember you can only activate the SOS alert from your unit by pressing and holding the Alert button for five seconds.) Locate Text where Locate Now Click the locate nowbutton the track- ing website. A map will appear on the screen with the child's current location. Safe Zone* To activate: text zoneXXX[number of feet/meters] Example: zone5000 To deactivate: text nozone Speed* To activate: text speed [MPH/Kilometers] Example: speed55 To deactivate: text nospeed Destination Alert To activate: log on to the tracking website and click on destination alert. Draw a circle around the desired des- tination or type in the exact address. Once your child arrives at that speci- fied destination, you'll receive to alerts by text message and/or email. There is no deactivation command for this feature. Page To activate: text pageUnit will begin to beep. To deactivate: press the Alert button for 2 seconds. The unit will continue to beep for 2 minutes if not shut off. Low Battery The device will send 2 low battery alerts. One alert will be sent when the battery is at 15% and the final alert will be sent at 7%. The final alert will advise the user that the unit will be turning off. Turn off To turn off device text unitoff To turn the unit back on, press and hold the Alert button for 7-10 sec- onds until it beeps. If traveling by plane, make sure you do this prior to boarding. Breadcrumb* To activate: text breadXX [how many minutes between alerts] Example: bread15 To deactivate: text nobread Monitor To activate: text monitor The device will verify that you are an authorized user and then call you back. Simply hang up when done lis- tening. *These alerts activate a text messages to your phone at regular intervals until the alert is deactivated. You need to be careful when using these features so that you do not exceed your plans text limits. NOTE: Speed alert and temperature alert will drain the battery faster because it requires the unit to check continually. Only use these fea- tures when needed.
