Users Manual

Integravics LLC TV Transmitter IG-TVTS-1 User’s Manual 2 Product Overview Thank you for purchasing the Integravics IG-TVTS-1 transmitter. The IG-TVTS-1 is an FM transmitter that operates in the 72 to 76 MHz frequency band and is intended for use with the IG-TVR-1 FM receiver. When used together, the system provides audio assistance in restaurants, sporting venues, and other places of public access with a range of up to 1000 feet (305 m). The transmitter can operate on 10 different channels allowing for multiple transmitters to be used simultaneously. When used in restaurant environments to transmit the audio from televisions, for example, there would typically be one transmitter per TV. The user could then select the desired program audio by tuning the receiver unit to the appropriate channel. The audio is input to the unit using standard stereo RCA connectors. To accommodate a wide range of audio signal levels, the transmitter unit has an adjustable audio signal input range. Simply use the volume up and volume down buttons to adjust the audio input range. In case of an electrical outage at your facility, the transmitter units will recall the previous power state, channel, and audio settings and automatically return the previous settings after power returns. We highly recommend that you read through this manual before attempting to use the system to avoid problems. Then save this manual as a reference when using the system. INSTRUCTION TO THE USER The user is cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment. 3 Installation Instructions Note: The TVTS-1 is to be installed by a trained professional only. Use only the IG- ANT-1 antenna assembly connected directly to the IG-TVTS-1 or in combination wit the IG-CBL100 cable assembly. Setup procedure: 1) Select a Location – Ideally, the transmitter should typically be located in close proximity to both the audio source and the intended coverage area. If this is not possible, install the transmitter in close proximity to the audio source. 2) Install the antenna – If the transmitter is installed in close proximity to the intended coverage area, connect the IG-ANT-1 directly to the BNC connector. a. If the transmitter is mounted to a wall, the transmitter and antenna should be connected as shown in Figure 1 with the antenna pointing up and away from the RCA connectors. Figure 1. Wall mount installation with direct antenna connection. 4 b. If the transmitter is positioned on a shelf, the antenna should be pointing up as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2. Shelf mount installation with direct antenna connection. c. If the transmitter cannot be installed in close proximity to the coverage area, use the IG-CBL100 cable assembly which allows for the antenna to be located up to 100 feet away from the transmitter as shown in Figure 3. The IG-CBL100 is a 100 foot shielded cable made from RG58. 5 Figure 3. Remote antenna installation using IG-CBL100 cable assembly. 3) Connect Audio Source - Connect your audio source to the back of your IG- TVTS-1 RCA connectors. Ensure you match the color coded white and red connectors to the corresponding RCA cables. 4) Connect Power - Plug the supplied power supply into an AC outlet and then plug the power supply cord into the DC jack. 5) Power on unit - Press the β€œPWR” button to power on your unit. The LCD backlight will momentarily light while the system initializes and display product information. The LCD will then display the channel the unit is currently tuned to. 6) Select Channel - Select a channel to transmit on. If using multiple IG-TVTS-1 transmitters, select a unique channel that is not already in use. 6 7) Verify Installation – Using an IG-TVR-1 receiver unit, power on the unit and tune to the same channel as the transmitter. Assuming everything was setup properly, you should hear the audio from the previously setup source. 8) Adjust the RCA input audio level if necessary – Using the IG-TVR-1 to verify audio quality, adjust the RCA input level on the transmitter to match the audio source. If the RCA audio source is supplying a signal that is higher than the current input range, the audio coming from the receiver will sound distorted. In that case press the VOL Up key on the IG-TVTS-1 until the signal is no longer distorted. Alternatively, the audible signal level from the receiver will be very low if the audio input signal level is well below the current input range. In this case, press the VOL Down key until the audible signal level increases being careful not to reduce the input range too far and cause distortion.
