131 Reference Information 130 Reference Information Before a phone model is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does not exceed the limit established by the government-adopted requirement for safe exposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. (Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available accessories and FCC requirements). While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones and at various positions, they all meet the government requirement. Use of non-approved accessories may violate FCC RF exposure guidelines and should be avoided. For additional information concerning exposure to radio frequency signals, see the following websites: Federal Communications Commission(FCC) RF Safety program (select “Information on Human Exposure to RF Fields from Cellular and PCS Radio Transmitters”): http://www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafety World Health Organization(WHO) International Commission on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection (select Qs & As): http://www.who.int/emf United Kingdom, National Radiological Protection Board: http://www.nrpb.org.uk Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association(CTIA): http://www.wow-com.com U.S.Food and Drug Administration(FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/consumer/ Care and Maintenance Your phone is a product of superior design and craftsmanship and should be treated with care. The suggestions below will help you to fulfill any warranty obligations and allow you to enjoy this product for many years. When using your phone, battery, OR any accessory: •Keep it and all its parts and accessories out of small children’s reach. • Keep it dry. Precipitation, humidity and liquids contain minerals that will cor rode electronic circuits. •Do not use or store it in dusty, dirty areas as its moving parts can be damaged.
May 01,2001 Federal Communications Commission Authorization and Evaluation Div. Equipment Authorization Branch 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 To whom it may concern: We, the undersigned, hereby authorize PCTEST Engineering Laboratory Inc., to act as agent on behalf of all matters relating to applications for equipment authorization, including the signing of all documents relating to these matters. Any and all acts carried out by PCTEST Engineering Laboratory, Inc. on our behalf shall have the same effect as acts of our own. We also hereby certify that no party to this application is subject to a denial of benefits, including FCC benefits, pursuant to Section 5301 of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988,21 U.S.C.862. Sincerely, Wallace Oh Engineering Manager Samsung Electronics America AFFIDAVIT FOR ESN PROTECTION OF CELLULAR MOBILE TELEPHONES We hereby certify that the Portable Cellular Telephone (FCC ID:A3LSCHN299) is so designed that it complies with all the requirements for ESN protection specified in Sec.22.919 of the FCC Rules. a) The transmitter in service has a unique ESN. b) The ESN host component is permanently attached to a main circuit board of the mobile transmitter and the integrity of the unit operating software cannot be altered. The ESN is plated from fraudulent contact and tampering. The ESN is encoded using multiplication by a polynomial and the ESN data programmed in the memory with other information. c) The ESN is factory set and cannot be altered, transferred, removed or otherwise able to be manipulated. Cellular mobile equipment is specifically designed such that any attempt to remove, tamper with, or change the ESN chip, its logic system, or firmware originally programmed by the manufacturer will render the mobile transmitter inoperative. (c) 1992 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., New York, New York 10017.[2] The measurement procedure described in IEEE/ANSI C95.3-1992 Recommended Practice for the Measurement of Potentially Hazardous Electromagnetic Fields - RF and Microwave[3] is used for guidance in measuring SAR due to the RF radiation exposure from the Equipment Under Test (EUT). These criteria for SAR evaluation are similar to those recommended by the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) in Biological Effects and Exposure Criteria for Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields,” NCRP Report No. 86 (c) NCRP, 1986, Bethesda, MD 20814.[5] SAR is a measure of the rate of ene…
