This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry system to reduce the number of key strokes associated with entering text. x495.book Page 47 Thursday, August 18, 2005 12:23 PM 48 Section 5 Changing the Text Input Mode When using your phone, you will often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in Phonebook, creating your personal greeting or schedulin g e v e n t s o n y o u r c a l e n d a r. You can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’s keypad. Your phone has the following text input modes: • ABC mode: this mode allows you to enter letters by pressing the key labeled with the letter you want. Press the key once, twice, three, or four times until it displays. • T9 mode: this mode allows you to enter words with only one keystroke per letter. Each key on the keypad has more than one letter; for example, pressing the 5 key can enter J, K, or L. However, the T9 mode automatically compares the series of keystrokes you make with an internal linguistic dictionary to determine the most likely word, thus requiring far fewer keystrokes than the traditional ABC mode. • Number mode: this mode allows you to enter numbers. • Symbol mode: this mode allows you to enter symbols, such as punctuation marks. When you are in a field that allows characters to be entered, you will notice the text input mode indicator on the display. Example: Writing a text message. x495.book Page 48 Thursday, August 18, 2005 12:23 PM Section 5: Entering Text49 Using T9 Mode Section 5 1.To change the text input mode, press the key. 2.Highlight the input option th…

Power output listed is EIRP. SAR compliance for body-worn operating configurations is based on a separation distance of 1.5 cm between the back of the unit and the body of the user. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. Belt clips or holsters may not contain metallic components. The highest reported SAR values are: Head: 0.604 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.278 W/kg. This device also contains 1800 MHz DCS functions that are not operational in U.S. Territories. HAC Rating: M3
