From: Mr. Gregory Czumak / PCTEST TCB RE: FCC ID: A3LSPHM510 Applicant: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Correspondence Reference Number: A3L0788 Confirmation Number: 12010788-89 Date of Original Email: December 08 , 2006 Subject: Request for additional information In regards to your recent TCB application referenced above, we kindly request that you provide the following additional information. 1. I note that you have not yet responded to question #1 from our previous email ==> Corrected 2. The document RCSO Table submitted in response to our previous question still appears to list power values up to 0.45 dB higher than the corresponding values in the tables in the SAR and EMC reports. Please address this discrepancy. ==> Corrected 3. Please check the 80%AM plot on Page 15. The reference level does not appear to be correct. ==> Corrected 4. Please confirm if the phone ear reference point contact is parallel to the HAC phantom. Please ensure the photographs show that this contact is correct. ==> The photographs are correct. We confirm that the phone ear reference point contact is parallel to the HAC phantom. 5. Please supply the HAC probe rotation maximum time averaged field vcalue. This value should be the peak reading from the 360 rotation according to the graph supplied. ==> Corrected 6. Please confirm or revise HAC data reported in Section 9. The correct measurement should be Time Averaged Field * PMF = Peak Field. The PMF must be accounted for in this section, similar to Section 10. ==> Corrected 7 . Please supply Backlight on data for HAC, or alternatively supply a statement in the Users Manual informing the user to turn off the backlight for HAC compliance. ==> Corrected FYI - C63.19-2006 version date is from January 2006 and not April 2005. ==> Corrected The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. The SAR probe calibration report submitted with the application is over one year old- this is not permitted. Pursuant to FCC policy, SAR probes must be calibrated in accordance with the manufacturer’s specification, and, according to SPEAG, this is yearly. I note that the conversion factors listed in this cal report do not match the values used in the actual SAR tests- perhaps an old report was submitted by mistake? If so, please submit the most recent cal report for the SAR probe used for testing. ==> Corrected 2. The spurious radiated emission data tables for Part 22/24 have the dBc values and polarities in the wrong columns. Also, in the PCS table, the dBc values for the 6 th and 7 th harmonics appear to be incorrect. Please address. ==> Corrected 3. The document RCSO Table lists power values up to 0.5 dB higher than the corresponding values in the tables in the SAR and EMC reports. Please address this discrepancy. ==> Corrected 4. The Bluetooth antenna gain is listed as 4.2 dBi in the Request Email, and as 4.2 linear gain (6.2 dBi) in the antenna technical description. Please address this discrepancy. Also, I note that this seems quite high for a chip antenna- please verify that it is correct. ==> Corrected HAC 5. Please supply uncertainty result for the field instead of power. ==> Corrected 6. Please revise the HAC Validation dates on Page 13. They contain invalid dates. ==> Corrected 7. Please clarify PMF table in Page 15. It appears that the PMF data is inconsistent. 80% AM should also be tested with a 1kHz modulation frequency. ==> Corrected 8. We note RC5/SO17 was used during the HAC RF Emissions Testing. This mode is not applicable for HAC Testing since this mode is not normally used in live networks. Please justify mode used, or retest if necessary. ==> Corrected 9. Please update the C63.19 references to "C63.19-2006" 2006 version ==> Corrected 10. Please supply a clearer test setup photo to confirm proper device setup on HAC phantom ==> Corrected 11. Please submit probe rotation analysis at the worst-case measurement location. ==> Corrected 12. Please submit a RF emission overlay for the worst-case E and H field plots over the actual device. ==> Corrected 13. Please send a stage of production letter for the device tested. ==> Corrected 14. Please confirm if during HAC Testing the Bluetooth was turned off. ==> Corrected 15. The Section 9 measurement tables do not appear to have correct peak field information. INTRODUCTION 2.1 General These measurement test were conducted at SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD(SUWON). The site address is 416 Maetan3-Dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City, Gyeonggi-Do, Korea 443-742 The site have 1 Fully-anechoic chamber and measurement facility. Measurement Procedure The radiated and spurious measurements were made Fully-anechoic chamber at a 3-meter test range (see Figure2). The equipment under testing was placed on a wooden turntable 3-meters from the receive antenna. The receive antenna height and turntable rotations were adjusted for the highest reading on the receive spectrum analyzer. The substitution antenna will replace the EUT antenna it the same position and in vertical polarization. The frequency of the signal generator shall be set to the frequencies that were measured on the EUT. The test antenna shall be raised and lowered, if necessary, to ensure that the maximum signal is still being received. The signal generator, output level, shall be adjusted until an equal or a known related level to what was measured from the EUT is obtained in the spectrum analyzer. This level was recorded. For readings above 1 GHz, the above procedure is repeated using horn antennas and the difference between the gain of the horn and an isotropic antenna are taken into consideration. Figure1.
