Front View: Back View: Wireless USB 4 Getting Started Before installing the software make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements as below. • Operating system: Windows OS XP, Vista or higher • CPU 1G kHz • RAM 512MB • Hard Disk 1GB free. 1.0 Installing Software NOTE: Before installing the software to the computer, make sure that your Internet connection is online. 1. Insert the wireless USB into your USB port on the computer. Swing out the antenna to a 90° angle for best transmission distance. The antenna will move easily, it should not be forced. 2. Insert the CD software into your computer. Double click on the setup software icon. Once the installation window opens click “Next”. IMPORTANT: The weather software program on the CD may not be the most up to date program available. During installation, if there is an updated version available, a window will open asking if you want to update your software program through the Internet, click “Yes”. If this window does not appear, there is no updated version available at this time. To update the software at a later date please see Section 11.1. 5 3. During installation you will have to choose which unit of measure you prefer for your desktop weather screen. Click on metric units or imperial units and then click “Install”. 4. Next select the country and city that you are in, if your city is not listed then click on the one closest to you. IMPORTANT: The detailed forecasts are taken from national weather bureaus, which measure weather conditions at local airports. Therefore, the forecast information displayed on your monitor may not directly reflect what you see outside of your home. For example, the temperature measurement displayed on the monitor may be higher or lower than what you are experiencing outside your home. 7 1.3 Registering the USB with the Monitor Once the software is installed and the monitor is powered up, the wireless USB will transmit the weather forecast conditions to the monitor every 55 seconds. If the connection is lost at any time or does not work, follow these steps to re-register. 1. Right click on the sun icon located on the task bar. Sun Icon 2. Click on “Device”, then click on “Device Register”. 3. Press the REGISTER button on the monitor. 4. The Internet icon “” will begin to flash intermittently on the monitor and the LED on the wireless USB will flash to show that it is transmitting to the monitor. 5. Set up is complete. The unit is ready to use. 1.4 Changing the Country and/or City You can change the country and/or city at any time when your computer is online. 1. Right click on the sun icon located on the task bar. 2. Click on “city select”, a window will open. Select the country and city you would like to see the weather forecast conditions for. 3. Once the city is selected click “Ok” to confirm. A pop-up window will appear next to the sun icon indicating the weather conditions of the newly selected city has been updated. The forecast conditions will start to change on your station’s monitor. NOTE: The pop up window will appear every time the weather is updated from the Internet. 8 2.0 Desktop Weather Screen The desktop weather screen displays the forecast for the next 6 days. The screen can be left open on your desktop for a quick view of the upcoming weather. 1. To open the desktop weather screen, right click on the sun icon located on the task bar on your desktop. Sunset 10 3.0 Setting Time and Date Once the monitor and wireless USB are registered, the monitor will synchronize the time and date with the computer. To set the date and time manually follow these steps. NOTE: If there is a pause at any time for more than 20 seconds while setting the date and time the monitor will automatically return to normal mode. 1. Press and hold the MODE button for 3 seconds, “the year” will start to flash. Press UP or DOWN buttons to select the correct year. Press MODE to confirm. 2. Next the month digits will start to flash. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to select the correct month. Press MODE to confirm. 3. Next the date digits will start to flash. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to select the correct date. Press MODE to confirm. 4. Next the language selection for the day of the week will begin to flash. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to select the preferred language. Press MODE to confirm. NOTE: There are 7 languages that can be selected; English (EN), German (GE), French (FR), Danish (DA), Italian (IT), Spanish (ES), and Dutch (NE). 5. Next the 12/24 hour mode will flash. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to select the preferred hour mode. Press MODE to confirm. 6. Next the hour digits will flash. Follow step 5 to set the correct hour and minutes. 3.1 Daylight Savings Time (DST) The monitor will adjust to daylight savings time automatically from the Internet. When daylight savings time is active, “” icon will appear next to the time digits. 4.0 Setting Daily Alarms 1. To set Alarm 1 press the MODE button. Alarm 1 time is displayed. 2. Press and hold MODE button for 2 seconds, the hour digit will flash. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the hour. Press MODE to confirm. 3.
