1 GSM Mobile Phone QSX400 User Manual 1 1 Basic Know-how 1.1 Introduction Thank you for choosing GSM/GPRS Digital Mobile Phone made by this company. You can fully understand the usage of this mobile phone and enjoy the sound functions and simple operation ways by reading this manual. This manual specifies the excellent performance of model H8. Besides basic call functions, it also provides you with numerous practical functions and services which makes it convenient for your work and entertainment. This color-screen mobile phone complies with GSM/GPRS technical specifications and has been certified by domestic and overseas authorities. Some service and functions described depend on the network and subscribed services. Therefore not all menus in the phone are available, and shortcut numbers of menus and functions may be different due to different phones. This company reserves the rights to modify the contents herein without otherwise notify the users in advance. 2 1.2 For your Safety If your cell phone is lost or stolen, please notify the Telecom service center or distributor to suspend the use of your phone and SIM Card by others for fear of the economic damages caused by making phone calls in your name by others. Your IMEI Code which showed on the sign of the back of the cell phone (remove your battery and find it) shall be provided to the Telecom service centre or distributor when contacting with them. Please copy and save the number for future use.  For fear of your cell phone being misused, please take these measures: - Set your PIN Code for SIM Card properly and revise it in time when known by other people. - Please don’t put your phone in the place where is easy to be found when leaving your car. Had better take along with you or lock it in your suitcase. - Set call barring. 1.3 Security Warning and Precautions Please carefully read these precautions before use in order to use the mobile phone securely. 3 1.3.1 General Precautions  Please only use the battery and charger designated by this company as the use of other products may cause battery leakage, overheating, blowout or fire.  Please don’t strike, shake or throw your mobile phone violently in fear of causing troubles to your mobile phone and fire burning.  Never put the battery, mobile phone and charger into the microwave oven or high pressure equipment, or it may cause the accidents like circuit damage and fire, etc.  Please don’t use your mobile phone in the areas where flammable and explosive gases existed, or it may cause troubles to your mobile phone and fire burning.  Please don’t disclose your mobile phone under high-temperature, high-moisture or somewhere dust congested, or it may cause troubles to the mobile phone.  Put the mobile phone out of reach of children to prevent them playing the phone as a toy and cause personal injury.  Please don’t put your mobile phone over the place where is uneven or unstable for fear of the troubles or damages to the mobile phone. 4  The device is tested for typical body worn operation. The minimum distance between the user and/or any bystander and the radiating structure of the transmitter is 15mm.  Never shine LED- flashlight into the eyes of humans or animals! 1.3.2 Notice for use of the mobile phone  Please power off in the occasions when the use of mobile phone is forbidden, like on plan and in the hospital, etc. as the mobile phone may impact the normal operation of electronic equipment and medical apparatus, so please observe the relative regulations in these places. The mobile phone is equipped with timed auto power-on function, please check your clock setting to make sure your mobile phone will never automatically power on during flight.  Never use the mobile phone in places with weak signals or near the high fidelity electronic device. Radio interference may lead to the mal-operation of electronic device and other issues. Please pay special attention near the following equipment: hearing aid, pacemaker and other medical electronic device, fire detector, automatic door and other auto control device. Please consult with the phone 5 manufacturer or local dealers for the influence of mobile phone upon the pacemaker and other medical electronic device.  Please don’t strike the LCD screen heavily or use it to strike other things, or the LCD screen may be damaged and the liquid may leak out. The liquid entering into eyes may cause the danger of blindness, in this case, never rub your eyes with hands, just wash with clean water and then go to the doctor immediately.  Please don’t dismantle or re-equip the mobile phone, or it may cause damages, electronic leakage and circuit trouble.  In few circumstances, the use of the mobile phone in some cars may influence some electronic equipment. At this circumstance, please don’t use the mobile phone for security.  Please don’t use something with sharp-point such as needle, pen point to press the keys, or it may cause damages to the mobile phone or disoperation.  If the antenna is broken, please don’t use the mobile phone, or it may cause personal injury.  Keep the mobile phone away from the magnetic substances like mag-cards, etc., as the radiated waves of mobile phone may clear the information 6 saved on the floppy disks, bank cards and credit cards.  Keep the earphone of the mobile phone away from drawing-pin, as when the loudspeaker works, it will become magnetic which can attract those small metal parts and may cause personal injury or mobile phone damages.  Keep the mobile phone dry, as water and other liquid may cause the phone overheating, creepage and malfunction. 1.3.3 Notice for use of the battery  Avoid battery short circuit by metals like electric wire and needles or necklace, as it may cause battery leakage, overheating, blowout or fire.  The battery liquid entering into eyes may cause the danger of blindness, in this case, never rub your eyes with hands, just wash with clean water and then go to the docto…

Operational Description

OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION The equ ipment under test (EUT) is the transmitter of QSX400a Four-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS mobile phone. The transmitter operates in a duplex system according to the GSM standards. The majority of the phone circuitry consists : the RF7170 Power Amplifier and the AD6548 RF Receiver and the MT6235 Baseband Processor. There is also a combination NAND Flash Memory/PSRAM IC. The system is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts. The receiver consists of two distinct parts, the RF receiver front-end and the IF section. The RF receiver front-end amplifies the GSM850 (869-894MHZ), E-GSM900 (925-960 MHz), DCS1800 (1805-1880 MHz), PCS1900(1930-1990MHZ) aerial signal, converts the chosen channel down to a low IF of 0 kHz, and provides in addition more than 35 dB image suppression. Two LNAs are available on-chip and can be configured to allow 4-band functionality. The switched LNA will be used for roaming in different countries. Some selectivity is provided at this stage by an on-chip low-pass filter, and channel selectivity is provided by means of a high performance integrated band-pass filter. The IF section further amplifies the wanted channel performs gain control to tune the output level to the desired value and rejects DC. This DC rejection is realised with an active high pass circuit and operates either continuously or keeps the acquired offset correction during the burst depending on the programming. The transmitter is fully differential using a direct up conversion architecture. It consists of a single side band power up mixer. Gain is controlled by 4 dB via 3-wire serial bus programming. The fully integrated VCO and the power mixer are designed to achieve LO suppression, quadrature phase error, quadrature amplitude balance and low noise floor specifications. Output balun components are integrated to drive a standard 50 ohms single ended load. The local oscillator (LO) signals required are provided by an on chip VCO for operation of the receive and transmit sections. The VCO is fully integrated and self calibrating to reduce manufacturing tolerances. It consists of 64 differents frequency ranges that are selected internally depending on frequency programming. The frequencies of the RF VCO are set by an internal fractional N synthesiser PLL circuit, which are programmable via a 3-wire serial bus. Comparison frequency is 26 MHz (24 Hz step programmability) derived from the 26 MHz reference signal which is generated from the semi integrated reference oscillator. The quadrature phase RF LO signa ls required for IQ mixers are generated internally. 26 MHz is the reference frequency. It is turned on when the supply voltage VTCXO is applied. After buffering a reference clock of 26 MHz is supplied to the other parts of the system through the pin XBUF. The circuit can be powered-up into four different modes: RX, TX, SYN or REF mode, depending on supply voltages applied, the logical level at pin CTRL and the 3-wire bus serial programming. In RX (TX) mode, all sections required for receive (transmit) are turned on. The SYN mode is used to power-up the synthesiser and the RF-VCO prior to the RX or TX mode. In the SYN mode, some internal LO buffers are also powered-up such that VCO pulling is minimized when switching on the receiver or the transmitter. The reference oscillator (REF mode) is turned on by applying the supply voltage. Additionally band selection is done using the 3-wire bus serial programming allowing the proper enabling of the LNAs. The RF part also includes the blue tooth (blue tooth built-in baseband MT6616), W IFI chip MT5921, analog television +FM chip ATV168H.
