This will maximize the battery life. •The battery cannot be overcharged. Battery installation 1 Install the battery in the handset. 2 Close the handset cover. Battery charge To power the handset, charge the battery. Place the handset on the base unit for about 15 hours before initial use. A nickel cadmium battery that is recyclable powers the product you have purchased. At the end of its useful life, under various state and local laws, it is illegal to dispose of this battery into your municipal waste stream. Please call 1-800-8-BATTERY for information on how to recycle this battery. –7– You can record a personal greeting message of up to 2 minutes. If a greeting message is not recorded, one of two pre-recorded greetings will be played when a call is received. •All messages (greeting, incoming, etc.) are stored in digital memory. The total recording time is about 15 minutes. We recommend you record a brief greeting messagein order to leave more time for recording new messages. 1 Press and hold (GREETING)until a long beep is heard. 2 After the long beep, talk clearly, about 8 inches (20 cm) away from the MIC (microphone). 3 When finished, press (GREETING). •If you do not record a greeting message, one of two messages will be played when a call is received, depending on the caller’s recording time. Operational Description

EXHIBIT E DESCRIPTION OF ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY BASE UNIT: A) WHEN A BELL SIGNAL ENTERS FROM TEL LINE 1) The bell detection circuit, i.e., the transistor(Q106) begins to operate and its output is inputted to pin 92 of IC501(DSP). 2) To obtain a display synchronized with the bell signal, an IN USE signal is output from pin 85 of IC501(DSP) and INUSE LED(LED949) is lighted up. 3) A portable phone receives a bell from the base station. When the portable phone is switched from the STANDBY to TALK, the base station receives a carrier modulated by data indicating the switch from STANDBY to TALK. The data demodulated at the base station is inputted to pin 84 of IC501, and passes through Q104 to make the circuit relay, then, release the muting and enables talk. B) WHEN A LINE LOOP IS MADE BY A PORTABLE PHONE 1) When the operator of the portable phone switches STANDBY to TALK, the TALK mode data enters the base station and is demodulated at the RF Unit of the base station, and is inputted to pin 84 of IC501. 2) In this time, an IN USE signal is output from pin 85 of IC501, and the IN USE LED (LED949) is lighted up. C) RECIEVER UNIT OPERATION 1) A signal is received by the antenna, and passes through the 2400 to 2483.5MHz band pass filter L132, and is inputted to the pin 5 of IC102. 2) The received signal and local signal made by VCO (2390.214194~2469.590710MHz) are mixed by IC101 to obtain digitized audio signal. 3) The base band signal is fed to pin 84 of IC501. 4) This audio signal is transmitted to the telephone line by IC501. D) TRANSMISSION UNIT OPERATION 1) An audio signal from the line passes through the interface transistor(Q161). 2) The audio signal is inputted to pin 51 of IC501. 3) This audio signal is coded by IC501 and output from pin 75 to IC501. 4) This modulated signal goes to the antenna. EXHIBIT E DESCRIPTION OF ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY PORTABLE UNIT: A) RECEIVER UNIT OPERATION 1) A signal from the base unit is received by the antenna, and passes through the 2400 to 2483.5MHz band pass filter L132. And the signal is fed to pin 5 of IC102. 2) An received signal and local signal made by VCO(2390.214194~2469.590710MHz) are mixed to obtain digitized audio signal. 3) This digitized audio signal is fed to pin 65 of IC201. 4) This audio signal goes to pin 33 and 34 of IC201, and output to speaker. B) TRANSMISSION UNIT OPERATION 1) When selected TALK switch to TALK, the detect switch of IC201 becomes ON and get into TALK mode. 2) The audio signal from microphone is inputted to pin 41 and 42 of IC201. 3) This audio signal is coded by IC201 and output from pin 56 to IC101. 4) This modulated signal goes to the antenna.

March 29, 2002 Federal Communications Commission Equipment Approval Services 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Attn: Mr. Steve Dayhoff SUBJECT: Matsushita Electric FCC ID: ACJ96NKX-TG2730 731 Confirmation No.: EA889183 Correspondence Reference No.: 22368 Request for Tech. Info.: 3/19/02 Dear Steve: Transmitted herewith, on behalf of Matsushita Electric is an amendment provided in response to the request for technical information dated March 19, 2002. 1. Please find attached the revised pages in the SAR report indicating EIRP power levels used for SAR evaluation. (The EIRP is maintained at a constant level as it is controlled by software). 2. Please find attached the date of test printout from the dielectric test system. 3. The unit was tested using software codes that put the unit at a fixed channel in the CW mode so no duty cycle correction was needed. 4. The unit was tested using software codes that disabled the hop function. 5. Please note that most of the 1 gram average is measured during the first 2cm of the “z” scan. Since the SAR to noise ratio is very low the noise on the plot appears exaggerated. During the testing the second peak was investigated. 6. Please find attached investigated 1g SAR for the 2 nd peak. Peak SAR was 1.1506 w/kg where the alternate peak was found to be 0.9739 w/kg. 7. Please find attached dipole validation plots. We trust this information is sufficient for the immediate grant of this application. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. cc: Matsushita Electric
