This system is in compliance with Part 15, Subpart C and in accordance with §15.247 of the FCC Rules. The subject device is a facsimile machine with built-in cordless telephone base with operation on 153 channels within the 2402.048 ~ 2479.872 MHz frequency band (low channel 14 @ 2402.048 MHz, middle channel 90 @ 2440.960 MHz and high channel 166 @ 2479.872 MHz). The maximum RF output power (EIRP) for the base unit is mW. This base unit will be marketed with its associated handset, which was previously approved by PCTEST TCB under FCC ID: ACJ96NKX-TG2257. The handset approval included SAR test report that declared maximum peak radiated RF output was 6.6mW (EIRP). The handset SAR test results were: (1) 0.1895 W/kg Brain SAR; and (2) 0.5660 W/kg Body SAR. Both the base and handset have permanently attached antennas with handset using J-type antenna and base unit using collinear antenna. The User Manual will provide RF exposure warnings to include: (1) the base unit’s antenna should be located at least 20 cm from persons body during usage; and (2) the handset should only be carried in the provided belt-clip. RF Exposure Measurement 1. Introduction 2.4 GHz frequency band is regarded specially as a dangerous band for its heating harmfulness to the human body. That’s why microwave oven is operating in this frequency band. The manufacturer whose product is working in this frequency band is obligatory to prove the harmfulness of this product. In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1210 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured by power meter. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b). If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the distance r where the MPE limit is reached. Ref.: David K. These measurement tests were conducted at PCTEST Engineering Laboratory, Inc. facility in New Concept Business Park, Guilford Industrial Park, Columbia, Maryland. The site address is 6660-B Dobbin Road, Columbia, MD 21045. The test site is one of the highest points in the Columbia area with an elevation of 390 feet above mean sea level. The site coordinates are 39 ° 11'15" N latitude and 76 ° 49'38" W longitude. The facility is 1.5 miles North of the FCC laboratory, and the ambient signal and ambient signal strength are approximately equal to those of the FCC laboratory. There are no FM or TV transmitters within 15 miles of the site. The detailed description of the measurement facility was found to be in compliance with the requirements of § 2.948 according to ANSI C63.4 on October 19, 1992.
