Please note that the attenuation requirement for radiated spurious emissions is referenced to the desired signal yielding dBc. The attenuation specification is not XX uV/M, or derived from absolute value of the field strength. The dBc is determined from the substitution method such as described in the ANSI/TIA/EIA-603-A-2001 document. What is needed is a determination of the actual power levels necessary to reproduce these field strength levels. Those power levels (from a signal generator source and a dipole antenna replacing the EUT) are ROGERS LABS, INC. 4405 West 259 th Terrace Louisburg, KS 66053 Phone / Fax (913) 837-3214 then compared to the power output of the transmitter to determine dBc. That is the basis of the "substitution method". Please submit data / results obtained in this manner. RESPONSE: 1. The original transmitter (FCC ID AJTH12RT-V) was certified for operation in the part 22, 74, and 90 for operation. This equipment is a repackaging of the Kenwood transmitter, which is now the current model available. The paragraphs of interest would include 22.355, 22.359, 22.561, 22.565, 74.402, 74.461, 74.462, and 74.464, along with applicable paragraphs of part 90. This unit will be used mainly for operation under part 90 in the railroad industry, however there may be occasion requiring licensing under parts 22 and 74. 2. The user manual was uploaded to the web site for review. 3. Testing per TIA/EIA-603-A-2001 has been completed and added to the test report. The modulation is generated by an MX829 Baseband Signal Processor chip (a PDF for the MX829 data sheet is included) with integrated filtering. The 12RII radio uses the MX829 to communicate at 2400 BAUD, half duplex, with one half cycle of 1200Hz for a โ€˜1โ€™ and one cycle of 2400Hz for a โ€˜0โ€™. The MSK data is continuous phase using standard deviation of +/- 3KHz for wide band operation and +/- 1.5KHz for narrow band operation.

Tune the Hi Power Scroll bar to Max (256) in the software control. Hit the Radio PTT button on the screen. The radio should activate the transmitter. Adjust VR1 on the RFPA module for a maximum power setting of 50 Watts. ? Adjust the scroll bar control on the PC screen down until the radio power is at 45 watts. Unkey the radio by clicking the mouse on the PTT button a second time. ? Next select the Lo Power scroll bar. Key the radio and adjust the scroll bar until the radio output power is at 10 Watts. ? Un-key the radio and exit this setup window. 3.2.2. Max Deviation & Modulation Balance ? Select the Max. Deviation/Balance Window in the Setup Software ? Inject a 300 Hz. sine wave at 2 VRMS into the Handset Audio Input of the Radio. ? Set the Marconi filtering to 15KHz low pass and enable the scope display. ? Key the Radio with the Handset PTT input on the Test Fixture. Monitor the deviation on the Marconi screen. ? Adjust the Leading Edge and Trailing Edge scroll bars until the leading and trailing edges of the waveform are both at 4.4 KHz deviation. (The Marconi should also read 4.4 KHz deviation.) The waveform should resemble a square wave with a horizontal top and bottom, but with slightly rounded corners almost vertical sides. ? Change the frequency of the 300 Hz. Sine wave to 1000 Hz.
