Users Manual

Operators Manual N45 Radio Note: This is a DRAFT manual for the module. The final manual that ships with the end product will contain this information. The radio module is an IEEE 802.11 b/g radio device operating on the standard Wi-Fi channels in the region where it is used. The radio module a custom designed module for use in a handheld device, Model Number A1213. The Radio Module measures 19.8 mm (0.779 inches) long by 6.5 mm (0.255 inches) wide by 1.3 mm (0.051 inches) high. The radio module, antenna, battery and other circuits are not user accessible. The product is designed such that key parts of the device may be permanently damaged if a user tries to access the interior of the device without special tools. The radio module obtains its power from the non-user accessible rechargeable battery within the A1213. The battery is charged from a USB port on a computer or from an external custom designed power adapter. The radio module and antenna allow the A1213 device to connect to Wi-Fi networks at home, at work and at Wi-Fi hot spots. The Model number A1213 has a menu for general settings to configure the Wi-Fi radio. There is also a status indicator showing the strength of the Wi-Fi signal being received. Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy N45 contains a radio transmitter and receiver. When on, N45 can receive and send out radio frequency (RF) energy through its antenna. The N45 antenna is located near the back left corner of the N45 as you hold the end containing the dock connector facing down. N45 is designed and manufactured to comply with the limits for exposure to RF energy set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States and other countries. The exposure standard employs a unit of measurement known as the specific absorption rate or SAR. N45 has been tested and meets the SAR exposure requirements for Wi-Fi operation. If you are concerned about exposure to RF energy, you can limit your exposure by limiting the amount of time using N45, since time is a factor in how much exposure a person receives, and by placing more distance between your body and the N45, since exposure level drops off dramatically with distance. Additional Information For more information from the US FCC about exposure to RF energy, see: www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafety For more information about the scientific research related to RF energy exposure, see the EMF Research Database maintained by the World Health Organization at: www.who.int/emf FCC Compliance Statement This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Important: Changes or modifications to this product not authorized by Apple could void the EMC compliance and negate your authority to operate the product. This product has demonstrated EMC compliance under conditions that included the use of compliant peripheral devices and shielded cables between system components. It is important that you use compliant peripheral devices and shielded cables between system components to reduce the possibility of causing interference to radios, televisions, and other electronic devices. Responsible party (contact for FCC matters only) Apple Inc. Product Compliance, 1 Infinite Loop, M/S 26A, Cupertino, CA 95014. This device must not be co–located with other transmitters.
