American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 January 20, 2005 RE: LG Electronics Inc. FCC ID: BEJ50PX4DUB After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) The DVI input could not be found easily in the schematics. Please provide information as to where this may be found, or provide if not previously provided. Additionally if not previously provided, please be sure to provide for both this application and BEJ50PY2DRUA. 2) For connection to a PC, please explain the maximum resolution. Page 18 & 19 of the users manual implies 1024x768 while page 96 suggests 1366 x 768. Please confirm. 3) The device is capable of many different resolutions and refresh rates. These different resolutions and rates must be investigated to determine worse case (Page 16 of the users manual shows various resolutions possible). Worse case does not always occur at the highest resolution. Was this investigation performed? If not, how can worse case data be assured? 4) Please comment on the RBW/VBW used during radiated testing. 5) It appears that ferrites were present on the RGB and DVI cables. Therefore these are expected to be supplied to the end user with the device. However the information on page 12 and 21 suggest these cables will not be provided. Additionally this same information applies to application BEJ50PY2DRUA as well. Please address. 6) FYI....This application only covered the PC peripheral portion of the device. Please note that the manufacturer is still responsible for making sure that the technical requirements for TV receivers have been verified per the FCC rules (these may be found in Sections 15.31(n), 15.107, 109, 111, 117, 118, 119,120, and 122 as applicable). Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. You responded with: I uploaded revised manuals for BEJ50PX4DUB,BEJ50PY2DRUA. -See 2 page manual-1(new),There is cables statement for DVI/RGB. Placing the statement in the manual is not sufficient. The manufacturer must provide these cables since they required ferrites. The FCC’s concern is that these are common cables which the user can simply buy from any store, and typically the cable will not include ferrites, and if it does, likely is not the same ferrite as tested. The FCC has always felt that the burden of compliance is not that of the consumer/buyer/reseller, but instead the manufacturer (applicant issued grant). Since these cables are different than the consumer will buy and require ferrites for compliance, the manufacturer is responsible for providing to the buyer with the device. Additionally, please note that pages in the manual (12 and 23 of the new manual provided) clearly show they cables are not included. Optionally, the device may be tested/modified to comply without requiring external cables with ferrites. In this case, since no special cables are required for compliance (no ferrites present, etc.), the cables do not need to be provided to the consumer with the device. For further details of this, please consult Part 15.27. Timothy R. Operational Description

LG Electronics Inc. FCC ID BEJ50PX4DUB -Operational description- A plasma display panel is the latest display technology. It is currently the best way to achieve flat panel displays with excellent image quality and large screen sizes, that are easily viewable. The PDP can be thought of as a descendant of the neon lamp an dit can be also be viewed as a series of fluorescent lamps. PDP is an array of cells, known as pixels, which are comprised of 3 sub pixels, corresponding to the colors red, green, and blue. Gas in a plasma state is used to react with phosphors in each sub-pixel to produce colored light (red, green, or blue). These phos-phors are the same types used in Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) devices such as televisions and common computer monitors. You get the rich, dynamic colors that you expect. Each sub-pixel is individually controlled by advanced electronics to produce over16 million different colors. All of this means that you get perfect images that are easily viewable in a display that is less than 5inches thick.
