27Using the system Desktop cleanup With Desktop Cleanup Wizard, you can delete hot icon paths that are not used on the desktop. Desktop Cleanup Wizard will be automatically executed every 60 days, or you can run this program when necessary. To delete unused icons on the desktop, do the following ⓞOpen[Control Panel] ⍛⍛ [Switch to Classic View] ⍛ [Display]. ⓟClick [Customize Desktop]under Background tab. ⓠClick [Clean Desktop Now]under Desktop Cleanup tab. ⓡFollow instructions of [Desktop Cleanup Wizard]. Taskbar Taskbar displays programs and files that are currently open. If there are many programs running on the computer, the Taskbar group together files from the same program to prevent taskbar icons from cluttering up the Taskbar. If the some program files of Windows has been damaged due to abnormal turning-off of the computer, reinstall dam- aged programs. Restarting the computer You can restart the computer as the instructions below, when the computer does not function correctly or freeze out. ãKeyboard and mouse may look different from the picture. Note ⓞQuit the program or restart by pressing combination of [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] key. ⓟIn case the measure described above does not work, press the Power button for 5 seconds to turn off the computer. System Recovery 55 If Windows XP is already installed on your computer, simply install Widows XP for upgrade purpose without formatting hard disk. If you have Windows Operating system running on your computer, follow the instructions to install Windows XP upgrade. ⓟClick [Start]and then select [Run]. ⓠInsert Recovery CD on your computer, and then type D:ƃi386ƃwinnt32.exe/unat- tend on the [Run]dialogue box and press [OK]. (In case CD-ROM drive is located at (D:) ⓞTurn on the computer that has Windows XP installed. To install Windows XP upgrade ãIf winnt32.exe is applied without "unat tend"option, Input Product key number, written on the computer.You should register Windows XP OS in 30days. Note 5.Reinstallation of Drivers 56 Reinstallation of Drivers After connecting a printer, you should istall the printer driver. Windows XP auto- matically recognize the printer driver. Complete the process by the instructions on the screen. System Expansion 62 6-1. Opening the computer case Always consult with your service representatives before opening the computer case. Follow the guidelines below when opening the case. Opening and closing the computer case ãQuit all running programs. ãTurn off the computer and monitor, and unplug and remove the power cords. ãKeep magnetic objects such as screw driver away from the parts inside the com- puter. ãOpen the computer case in a safe, clean area. ãThe static electricity can damage the parts inside the computer. Touch a bare, unpainted metal part of the computer for 2~3 seconds to remove the static elec- tricity before opening the computer case. ãAlways wear gloves to avoid injury when disassembling the computer. 6.System Expansion Make sure that there is no metallic object left inside the computer before closing the case. System Expansion70 The main board configuration, memory socket, and the shape of memory may be different depending on the model. ⓞRemove the screws on the rear of the computer, and open the computer case. ⓟPull the latch on each side of a memory socket to release the memory. Replacing the memory latch ãBefore opening the case, turn off the computer and peripheral devices, and remove the power cords. Note ⓞPull the latch on each side of a memory socket. ⓟAlign the notch at the bottom of the memory with a protrusion in the middle of the socket, and then insert the memory straight down. Installing a memory ãFor dual channel system, each mem ory should be installed in independent slot(1&3 slot or 2&4 slot) when using DDR Memory It is recognized as a single channel if there is a difference between dual channel 1 and 3, 2 and 4. Note ℘ ℙ ℚ ℛ Firmly push the latch to lock the memory. System Expansion 71 Checking the size of the installed memory The computer automatically recognizes the newly installed memory; therefore, you do not need to change the system setup. Follow the instruction below to check the size of the installed memory. ⓞConnect the power cord and other devices, and turn on the computer and monitor. Before adding a hard disk drive Adding a hard disk drive ãCheck and write down the jumper settings, size, and number of cylinders, heads, and sectors of the hard disk drive where you can refer to when you use the system setup. Remove the 4 screws from the hard case and remove the case to the direction of the arrow. ⓞOpen the CD-ROM drive by using a sharp pin into the emergency hole as shown on the picture No ℘. Remove the by pushing it to the direction of the arrow as shown on the picture No ℙ. ⓠPush the new hard disk you want to replace with to the direction of the arrow. ℘ ℙ Turn off the computer and remove the cable when disassembling the com- puter. There is a risk of an electrical shock. Check the connection between the power cable and the signal cable. There is a risk of damage to the computer and an electrical shock. System Expansion74 ⓡConnect the power cable connector and the signal cable connector to the new hard disk you want to replaced with and fasten 2 screws in the hard disk case. ⓢFasten 4 screws in the hard case after connecting the cables.
