This CDMA digital technology has greatly enhanced voice clarity and can provide a variety of advanced features. Currently, CDMA mobile communication technology has been commercially used in Cellular and Personal Communication Service (PCS). The difference between them is the operating frequency spectrum. Cellular uses 800Mhz and PCS uses 1.9Ghz. The LT-N050GP support GPS Mode, we usually call it tri-band Modem. Also, LT-N050GP works on Advanced Mobile Modem Service (AMPS). We call it quad-mode Modem. If one of the Cellular, PCS and AMPS base stations is located nearby, Call fail rate of triple-mode Modem is less than dual-mode Modem or single-mode Modem. The CDMA technology adopts DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum). This feature of DSSS enables the Modem to keep communication from being crossed and to use one frequency channel by multiple users in the same specific area, resulting that it increases the capacity 10 times more compared with that in the analog mode currently used. Soft/Softer Handoff, Hard Handoff, and Dynamic RF power Control technologies are combined into this Modem to reduce the call being interrupted in a middle of talking over the Modem. Cellular and PCS CDMA network consists of MSO (Mobile Switching Office), BSC (Base Station Controller), BTS (Base station Transmission System), and MS (Mobile Station). The LG Electronics Mobile Handset R&D Center has evaluated the mobile cellular phone, FCC ID BEJLT-N050GP, for the need to conduct SAR evaluation. Due to the design and installation of this product, it is not possible to conduct SAR evaluation. This is because LG Electronics neither manufactures or supplies the antenna(s) that will be used in the installation of this product. Therefore, this product will be evaluated as a mobile device per47 CFR 1.1310 titled “Radiofrequency radiation exposure limits”, generally referred to as MPE limits. In 47 CFR 2.1091, paragraph (b) defines a mobile device as “a transmitting device designed to be used in other than fixed locations and to generally be used in such a way that a separation distance of at least 20 centimeters is normally maintained between the transmitter’s radiating structure(s) and the body of the user or nearby persons.”This product is intended to be installed into a vehicle such that the unit is physically secured at one location. In the installation guide supplied with the product, LG Electronics has made the followingstatement: “IMPORTANT: To meet the FCC’s RF Exposure Guidelines, the antenna should be installed so there is at least 20 cm of separation between the body of the user and nearby personsand the antenna”. Based on the installation of the transceiver and the antenna, the transmitters radiating structure is more than 20 centimeters from the user. Thus, this product is a “mobile device”as defined in section 2.1091 paragraph (b). Table 1 (B) of 47 CFR 1.1310 lists the limits for MPE for the General Population. Since the mobile cellular phone operates in the 800 MHz cellular band and 1900MHz PCS band, the listed limit of f/1500 applies. The lowest transmit frequency for this product is 824.04 MHz, resulting in a MPE limit of 0.549 mW/cm2. Since LG Electronics neither manufactures or supplies the antenna(s) that will be used in the installation of this product, it is not possible to measure the MPE of the actual device as it is installed per the installationmanual. Therefore a calculation of MPE will be described in the next paragraph. LGE The MPE of a radiating structure can be calculated by knowing the transmit EIRP and the distance at which MPE is being calculated. In this case MPE willbe calculated at 20 cm, which is the minimum separation between the body of the user and nearby persons and the antenna. The maximum transmit power for this product is 3.0 Watts in the Analog mode and 0.27 Watts in the CDMA mode. When installed using a combined cable loss and antenna gain of a maximum of - 1.7 dBi(at 800MHz), the maximum EIRP will be 2.0 Watts. The model usedfor calculating power density in OET Bulletin 65, Edition 97-01, is the spherical model. Using this spherical model, 0.404mW/cm2 is achieved at a distance of 20cm from the antenna at 800MHz. At 1900MHz the power density is lower because of the lower transmitpower. DESCRIPTION OF TEST 3.1 Transmitter Audio Frequency Response The frequency response of the audio modulating circuit over the frequency range 100 – 5000Hz is measured. The audio signal generator is connected to the audio input circuit/microphone of the EUT. The audio signal input is adjusted to obtain 50% modulation at 1kHz and this point is taken as the 0dB reference. With the input held constant and below the limit at all frequencies, the audio signal generator is varied from 100 to 50kHz. 3.2 Audio Low Pass Filter Frequency Response The response in dB relative to 1kHz is measured using the HP8901 a Modulation Analyzer. For the frequency response of the audio low-pass filter, the audio input is connected at the input to the modulation limiter and the modulated stage. The audio output is connected at the output of the modulated stage. The corresponding plots are shown herein. 3.3 Modulation Limiting The audio signal generator is connected to the audio input circuit/microphone of the EUT. The modulation response is measured for each of the three modulating frequencies (300Hz, 1000Hz, and 3000Hz), and the input voltage is varied from 30% modulation( ±3.6kHz deviation)to at least 20dB higher than the saturation point. Measurements of modulation and the plots are attached herein. Measurements were performed for ST, SAT, and wide- band data modulations. The corresponding results are shown herein.
