AFFIDAVIT FOR ESN PROTECTION OF CELLULAR MOBILE TELEPHONES We hereby certify that the LGE Handheld Portable Cellular Telephone(FCC ID: BEJPD820) is so designed that it complies with all the requirements for ESN protection specified in section 22.919 of the FCC Rules. A) The transmitter in service has a unique ESN. B) The ESN host component is permanently attached to a main circuit board of the mobile transmitter and the integrity of the unit operating software cannot be altered. The ESN is plated from fraudulent contact and tampering. The ESN is encoded using multiplication by a polynomial and the ESN data programmed in the memory with other information. C) The ESN is factory-set and cannot be altered, transferred, removed or otherwise able to be manipulated. Cellular mobile equipment is specifically designed such that any attempt to remove, tamper with, or change the ESN chip, its logic system, or firmware originally programmed by the manufacturer will render the mobile transmitter inoperative. 1 Mike Kuo From: Compliance Certification Services [[email protected]] Sent: June282004Monday 12:18 PM To: [email protected] Subject: LG Electronics Inc., FCC ID: BEJPD820, Assessment NO.: AN04T3998, Notice#1 Question #1:Page 14 of user manual mentioned that this phone is dual band ( 800/1900 MHz ) CDMA phone, however, the test report and support documents indicated that this phone is single band phone ( 824-848 MHz ) . Please explain. Question #2: Section 2 of EMC test report indicates that this antenna gain is -2 dBi which does not agree with antenna specification. Please explain. Question #3: As indicated in page 18 of user manual, this phone will be offered to use with two type of batteries. In the SAR and EMC test report, only one battery was tested. Please provide separate EMC and SAR body worn test data for another battery. Question #4: The max. measured SAR value as indicated in the SAR test report is : head :0.819 W/kg and Body:0.364 W/kg. These values do not agree those values listed in the page 86 of user manual (head :1.32 W/kg; Body:0.686 W/kg). Please make necessary correction. Best Regards Mike Kuo The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information within 30 days of the original e-mail date may result in application dismissal and forfeiture of the filing fee. TEST PROCEDURE β€’ Frequency stability versus environmental temperature 1). Setup the configuration per figure 6 for frequencies measurement inside the environmental chamber. Set the temperature of the chamber to 25Β°C. Set SA Resolution Bandwidth low enough to obtain the desired frequency resolution and measure the EUT 25Β°C operating frequency as reference frequency. 2). Turn EUT off and set Chamber temperature to -30Β°C. 3). Allow sufficient time (approximately 20 to 30 minus after chamber reach the assigned temperature) for EUT to stabilize. Turn on EUT and measure the EUT operating frequency. Turn off EUT after the measurement. 4). Repeat step 3 with a 10Β°C increased per stage until the highest temperature of +50Β°C reached, record all measured frequencies on each temperature step. β€’ Frequency stability versus AC input voltage 1). Setup the configuration per figure 6 and set chamber temperature to 25Β°C. Use a variable AC power supply to power the EUT and set AC output voltage to EUT nominal input AC voltage. Set SA Resolution Bandwidth low enough to obtain the desired frequency resolution and measure the EUT 25Β°C operating frequency as reference frequency. 2). Slowly reduce the EUT input voltage to specified extreme voltage variation (Β±15%) and record the maximum frequency change. RESULT No non-compliance noted, as shown below because the EUT uses the same OSC in both receiver and transmitter LO circuit. As a result, the frequency does not shift in Frequency Stability Test.

Output power listed is ERP. Output power listed is ERP. This device was tested with a 1.5 cm device-to-body spacing gap and was not tested with any body-worn accessories made by the Grantee or any other manufacturer. Body-worn operations are restricted to belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly and must provide at least 1.5 cm separation between the device, including its antenna whether extended or retracted, and the user body. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. The highest reported SAR values are - Head: 0.819 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.364 W/kg.
