From: Mr. Gregory Czumak / PCTEST TCB RE: FCC ID: BEJRD6250 Applicant: LG Electronics Inc. Correspondence Reference Number: BEJ0651 Confirmation Number: 1610090650/0652 Date of Original Email: October 11, 2006 Subject: Request for additional information In regards to your recent TCB application referenced above, we kindly request that you provide the following additional information. 1. On May 9, 2006, the FCC released a new policy with respect to testing 3-G phones (e.g., cdma2000, EV- DO, WCDMA, etc.). Included are new procedures for testing EMC, SAR and HAC on cdma2000 phones- please see the attached documents, particularly pages 1/102 – 10/102 of the document “3G-SAR”, dealing with the required RC/SO combinations to be tested for head and body SAR and the required output power measurements, as well as the document “3G Review Guidance” for both EMC and RFx guidance (for instance the specific RC/SO combinations for the various tests are provided, also, please note that internal test codes may not be used- a base station simulator must be used). Please retest Part 22 EMC and SAR in accordance with these procedures, and submit new test reports that address the various requirements of the documents. You may also review some example test reports that use this new procedure, at: https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm Type in the following FCC ID: BEJVX9400, and view the EMC and SAR reports. Please note that the maximum SAR levels listed in the user’s manual may require modification, based on the outcome of the tests. In addition, please be sure to address the points in questions (2) and (4), below. Æ I uploaded the revised test report on your website. 2. Pursuant to FCC policy, you must test the extended battery for SAR in the worst-case configuration determined by the standard battery tests, and submit that data, even if the extended battery results in a lower ERP. Æ I uploaded the revised user manual. This device uses only standard battery. I confirmed from LG guy for that. 3. If the Attenuator and Dual Direction Coupler, listed in the SAR report, are on a one year calibration cycle, then it appears that they are both past their cal due dates. Please address. Æ They are not one year calibration cycle, two years calibration cycle. 4. What settings (i.e., RBW, VBW) and detector function was used to perform Part 22 spurious radiated emission tests? Æ RBW=VBW = 1MHz, detector mode: Peak mode. I also uploaded the revised test report on website. 5. Please provide the FCC ID of the support equipment used in the Part 15B tests, or else indicate if they have been approved through DoC. Æ They have been approved through DoC. 6. Regarding the Bluetooth transmitter, please address the following requirements from Section 15.247(a)(1): a. Is the list of hopping frequencies pseudo randomly ordered? Yes. Pseudo randomly b. Is each frequency used equally, on average? Yes. c. Is the system receiver input bandwidth approximately equal to the transmitted signal’s bandwidth? Yes. Approximately equal to the transmitted signal’s bandwidth. d. Does the receiver have the capability of hopping in synchronization with the transmitted signal? Yes. 7. Please address Sections 15.247(g) and (h). the transmitter be presented with a continuous data (or information) stream, and the number of hopping channels is total 79 channels. 8. Please submit a Technical Description of the spread spectrum (Bluetooth) transmitter. Æ I uploaded it on website. 9. Please verify that the statements required by Sections 15.21 and 15.105(b) will be included in the user’s Page 2 of 3 10/13/2006 manual prior to shipment of the EUT. Æ I uploaded the revised user manual The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Test Standards Test Standard : FCC PART 15 (2006) Test Method : ANSI C 63.4 (2003) This standard sets forth uniform methods of measurement of radio-frequency (RF) signals and noise emitted from both unintentional and intentional emitters of RF energy in the frequency range 9 kHz to 40 GHz. Methods for the measurement of radiated and AC power-line conducted radio noise are covered and may be applied to any such equipment unless otherwise specified by individual equipment requirements. These methods cover measurement of certain decides that deliberately radiate energy, such as intentional emitters, but does not cover licensed transmitters. This standard is not intended for certification/approval of avionic equipment or for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) equipment These method apply to the measurement of individual units or systems comprised of multiple units This Standard sets out the regulations under which an intentional, unintentional, or incidental radiator may be operated without an individual license. It also contains the technical specifications, administrative requirements and other conditions relating to the marketing of Part 15 devices.
