Further detailed information is given in this manual. EXPOSURE TO RADIO FREQUENCY ENERGY Radio wave exposure and Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information This mobile phone model S5200 has been designed to comply with applicable safety requirement for exposure to radio waves. This requirement is based on scientific guidelines that include safety margins designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. ] The radio wave exposure guidelines employ a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. Tests for SAR are conducted using standardized methods with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all used frequency bands. ] While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various LG phone models, they are all designed to meet the relevant guidelines for exposure to radio waves. ] The SAR limit recommended by the international Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), which is 2W/kg averaged over ten (10) gram of tissue. ] The highest SAR value for this model phone tested by DASY4 for use at the ear is 0.117 W/kg (10g). PRODUCT CARE AND MAINTENANCE WARNING!Only use batteries, chargers and accessories approved for use with this particular phone model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty applying to the phone, and may be dangerous. ] Do not disassemble this unit. For the EDGE technology, this phone does not support it. As you see the operational description, the power chipset of this phone just support EDGE technology. Please check them ASAP. Thanks. Jay. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 December 16, 2005 RE: FCC ID: BEJS5200_ATCB003005 Attention: Jay Kim I have a few comments on this Application. Please note that further comments may arise in response to answers provided to the questions below. 1. FYI – no action needed - in future applications please complete all necessary sections of the 731. This would include providing the name (description) of the equipment in section 4a and the rule part under which the device is to be certified in section 4b. Please also include the title of the authorized signer in section IV 2. This information is critical. 2. FYI – no action needed - please note that block diagrams for part 15 devices need to follow the requirements of 2.1033 which include clocks as well as data paths. 3. Please note that page 15 of the operational description states that the device is capable of EDGE technology. Please note that the report does not address this mode of operation. If the device is capable of EDGE technology, please provide that necessary test data to support certification using EDGE technology. This would include EIRP, bandwidth plots, spurious emissions data, band edge plots and SAR data. Please also include EDGE power, frequency tolerance, frequencies of operation and emissions designators on the 731 form. If this device does not support EDGE technology please show how this has been disabled in the device. 4. Please note that page 2 of the tune up procedure and page 15 of the operational description shows that this device is capable of operating in the part 22 frequency band between 824-849MHz. However, the application only deals with part 24 frequencies. If this device is only part 24 functional, please show how the part 22 frequencies are disabled so that the device cannot be made operational under part 22. If this device operates in the part 22 frequency bands (GSM850), please provide all necessary data to support this operation. 5. Please note that on page 23 of the SAR report you list “Brain” in the table for Body SAR. Please explain and please correct as necessary. 6. Please note that you list test setup photos in the request for temporary confidentiality. However, please note that SAR test setup photos are shown in the SAR report itself. As the SAR report cannot have confidential status, these setup photos will be able to be viewed by the public. If test setup photos are to be held in temporary confidential status, please remove them from the SAR report and provide a separate SAR setup photo exhibit. 7. Please note that the SAR report would indicate that the BT was always enabled during SAR testing. Please note that as the maximum SAR must be reported, generally the worse case must show the BT both enabled and disabled. Please confirm that the highest SAR values occurred when the BT was enabled and please provide at least one set of data with the BT disabled to support the highest SAR values. 8. Please note that the BT test report references FCC rules parts from 2002. Please note that as part 15 has undergone significant changes since 2002 this reference is out of date and incorrect. Please use and report data in accordance with the most current FCC rules. 9. Please note that as this device is also a part 15 intentional radiator the statement required by 15.19 must be in the manual if not on the device. As this device is considered small, this statement then must appear in the manual. Please provide a manual with this statement. z Page 2 December 16, 2005 Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.
