RF Exposure Info

INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES FCC ID: BOUSCD505H RF exposure - 1 of 1 According to the guidelines of FCC’s OET KDB 447498 D01, “Mobile and Portable Device - RF Exposure Procedures and Equipment Authorization Policies”, the hand SAR evaluation for hand-held and hand-operated device that operate closer than 5 cm from the antenna during normal use is exempted if the output power is not greater than 1000 x [f(GHz)] -0.5 mW. 1. Parent unit of tested model of SCD505-R is a hand-held device, and the operation frequency range is 1.921536 to 1.928448 GHz. Output power threshold =1000 x [f(GHz)] -0.5 mW =1000 x (1.924992) -0.5 mW =720.75 mW 2. The maximum field strength measured (FS) of shaker unit was 112.4 dBμV/m. The distance (D) between the antenna and the equipment under test (EUT) was 3 meters. And the maximum source-based time-averaging duty factor is 4.17%. The radiated power = (FS*D) 2 / 30 = 52.13 mW The radiated (EIRP) source-based time-averaging output power = (52.13 * 0.0417) mW = 2.17 mW 3. The conducted peak transmit power measured of shaker unit was 19.32 dBm. And the maximum source-based time-averaging duty factor is 4.17%. The conducted power =85.51 mW The conducted source-based time-averaging output power = (85.51 *0.0417) mW = 3.57 mW The maximum output power (higher value of conducted or radiated (EIRP) source- based time-averaging output power) is 3.57 mW and is not greater than the above output power threshold 720.75 mW, therefore the hand SAR evaluation is exempted.

Introduction The A Test Lab Techno Corp. has performed measurements of the maximum potential exposure to the user of Philips Consumer Lifestyle Trade Name:Philips Avent Model(s):SCD505-R. The test procedures, as described in American National Standards, Institute C95.1 - 2005[1], FCC/OET Bulletin 65 Supplement C [July 2001] were employed and they specify the maximum exposure limit of 1.6mW/g as averaged over any 1 gram of tissue for portable devices being used within 20cm between user and EUT in the uncontrolled environment. A description of the product and operating configuration, detailed summary of the test results, methodology and procedures used in the equipment used are included within this test report. 3. SAR Definition Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is defined as the time derivative (rate) of the incremental energy (dw) absorbed by (dissipated in) an incremental mass (dm) contained in a volume element (dv) of a given density ( ρ ). It is also defined as the rate of RF energy absorption per unit mass at a point in an absorbing body. SAR Mathematical Equation SAR = ⎟ ⎠ ⎞ ⎜ ⎝ ⎛ dm dw dt d = ⎟ ⎟ ⎠ ⎞ ⎜ ⎜ ⎝ ⎛ dv dw dt d ρ SAR is expressed in units of Watts per kilogram (W/kg) SAR = ρ E 2 σ Where: σ = conductivity of the tissue (S/m) ρ = mass density of the tissue (kg/m 3 ) E = RMS electric field strength (V/m) *Not…
