Your RCI-5054DX is designed to provide trouble-free service and state-of-the-art communications, in-corporating many useful features and functions in the 6 meter band. To ensure proper performance, please read this manual thoroughly. Unpacking The following items are included with our RCI-5054DX. Carefully remove and examine all materials from the packing carton. If any items are missing or appear damaged, please contact your dealer immediately. Each unit should include: (1) RCI-5054DX Transceiver (2) Dynamic Microphone with Frequency Adjustment (3) Power Cord (4) Mounting Bracket & Hardware (5) Installation Hardware (6) Owner's Manual (7) Warranty Registration Card It is recommended that you save the packing materials for future storage or shipping. IMPORTANT To operate this radio, you must possess and amateur radio operator's license issued by the FCC. Operation of this unit without proper licensing is ILLEGAL and can result in severe penalties. - 4 - Chapter 3 Installation The RCI-5054DX is easy to install. All necessary parts ( less the antenna and cable ) have been included to facilitate installation. Transceiver Mounting Choose a suitable location for the transceiver that will allow easy access to the front panel as well as proper air circulation to the back of the unit. If you are installing the unit in a vehicle , attach the mounting bracket first, then attach the transceiver to the mounting bracket using the hardware provided. Before making any electrical connection, ensure that the transceiver is turned off and the vehicle's battery is disconnected. Power Connection The transceiver operates off of any regulated 13.8 VDC negative or positive ground source. If an AC power supply is used with your radio, it must be regulated and rated for at least 7 Amps continuous for the RCI-5054DX. Low voltage while under load will reduce receiver gain and transmitter output. NOTE The condition of a vehicle's electrical system can affect the operation of your RCI-5054DX . A low battery , worn generator/alternator , or poor voltage regulator will impair performance of the unit as well as the vehicle. (High noise generation or low voltage delivery can result from these conditions.) CAUTION Voltage above 15 VDC will damage the unit. Be sure to check the source voltage before connecting the power cord. - 5 - ΣΩΡ ∆ΙΜ ΣΧΑΝ ΜΕΜ ΛΟ Χ Κ ΕΝΤ ΑΜ ΦΜ ΡΧΙ−5054 ∆Ξ ΜΑΝ Ρ.ΒΕΕΠ ΝΒ/ΑΝΛ ΣΠ…

ENGINEERING STATEMENT In Regard to Measurements on Model No. RCI-5054DX RANGER COMMUNICATIONS INC. FCC ID: C2R5054DX A. INTRODUCTION Hyak Laboratories, Inc. has been authorized by Ranger Communications Inc. to perform measurements on a receiver to deter- mine compliance with FCC rules, Part 15, Para. 15.109. The receiver operates in the 50 - 54 MHz band and is intended for use as a 6 meter amateur radio receiver. B. DESCRIPTION OF RECEIVER The device incorporates a dual conversion superheterodyne design. The following information is supplied as requested in FCC Bulletin OCE 24: 1. Service in which the receiver will be used: Part 15. 2. Function of receiver: Amateur Radio. 3. Tuning range: 50 - 54 MHz. 4. IFs used: 10.695 MHz; 455 kHz 5. Fundamental frequency of all oscillators in the receiver: 1 st L.O.:(F c -10.695) MHz 2 nd L.O.: 10.24 MHz C. DESCRIPTION OF MEASUREMENT FACILITIES A description of the Hyak Laboratories' radiation test facility is a matter of record with the FCC. The facility was accepted for radiation measurements from 30 to 1000 MHz on October 1, 1976, and is currently listed as an accepted site. D. DESCRIPTION OF MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE: RADIATED EMISSIONS Measurements of receiver radiation field strength were made using ANSI 63.4 (1992) as the basic procedure. Measurements were made with 3 meter spacing between the receiver under test and the test equipment antenna. The receiver was operated with an external antenna. The receiver under test was placed on a rotatable table 80 cm in height. Measurement of field strength was made through use of a TEK 494P spectrum analyzer in conjunction with Singer DM-105A series calibrated dipoles. The receiver was tuned to low and high channels. For each spurious emission identified between 30 to 2000 MHz, the test sample was rotated for maximum pickup, the test antenna varied in elevation, and the test antenna polarization shifted between horizontal to vertical in order to maximize observed signals. E. REPORT OF RADIATED EMISSIONS All signals observed from 30 to 2000 MHz that were more than 20 dB below the limits of paragraph 15.109 of the FCC Rules. F. DESCRIPTION OF MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE; AC-LINE CONDUCTED Not applicable; operates from vehicle 13.8 V supply. 2 G. STATEMENT Technical test data are from tests performed by me or under my supervision. My qualifications are a matter of record with the Federal Communications Commission. I personally attest to the accuracy of the test data submitted as a part of this engineering statement. __________________________________ Rowland S. Johnson Dated: May 21, 2001 3
