In a standby screen, press [MENU] button. 2. To move around the menu, use scroll buttons. If you press the scroll button continuously, the menu passes by automatically. . 3. A 40496.DOCPage 1 of 2 To Company FAX From Joe Dichoso FCC C.K.Li Date Page CC 6/07/99 2 Ref EA94053 Dear Mr. Dichoso, With reference to you e-mail dated 6/3/99, below are the answers: a) During SAR tests, the power was measured using a power meter and the reading is in average mode (240 mW). The corresponding peak power is about 3 dB higher. Therefore the power reading during SAR test is 26.8 dBm in peak mode. In the 731 form, we reported peak power which is required by the FCC. The antenna gain should be 0 dBi in this case when using the same test condition (peak power). b) The phone was tested using CENELEC 80 0 position. The reference line of the EUT is defined by the line which connects the center of the ear piece with the center of the microphone, and lies on the surface of the case facing the phantom. With this setup, the distance between antenna axis at the joint and the liquid surface is 4.4 cm. We believe this is the optimum position for the SAR testing. Please see the close-up photo below for details. c) The brain tissues material was supplied by the equipment manufacturer and the specifications of the material are listed below: Specifications providedMeasured FrequencyDielectric ConstantConductivityDielectric Constant Conductivity 1800 MHz39.51.7139.251.7 1900 MHz38.81.8338.581.81 Before tests, the material was calibrated and the data is within 10% of the specifications. A verification test was also performed. The SAR data during the verification test is well within 5% of the specifications (at 1800 MHz, dielectric constant = 40.2). A 40496.DOCPage 2 of 2 d) Because of the cosmetic design of the casing, the most comfortable and easy position to hold the phone is near the middle of the keypad case (see photo below). In this case, distance between the hand (tip of thumb) and the antenna connector will be about 25 mm. The test setup photo is shown in figure 1 below: Figure 1 SAR test setup using TOUCH position The SAR is 0.846 mW/g and the distance between the antenna connector and the Phantom shell is 22.5 mm. Please note that a SAR peak is found near the face (vertical wall) of the head. By using manual scan from bottom of the phantom to the surface of the liquid, we confirm that worst case SAR data is located at the bottom position (close to the phone).
