American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 January 17, 2003 RE: FCC ID: CWT UGPZ3 Attention: Toyokazu Imamura / Kanako Sanda I have a few comments on this Application. 1. Please note that since this device is a module it is automatically classified as portable. Please note that in your manual you have placed a statement to keep the device at least 20cm from the body. Since the manual also says this device is for use in ‘any end product both mobile and portable it is not possible for the OEM installer of this device to assure a 20 cm separation. Thus the statement is incorrect, inappropriate and misleading and must be removed. Please remove the 20cm separation statement and provide a revised manual. Alternately please remove the reference to any use In a portable application and provide evidence on how the manufacturer is to limit its use to only mobile devices maintaining a 20cm separation. 2. FYI no action needed. Please note that the”Caution to user for modification” statement is poorly written. It would make more sense if you removed the words “The user that” from the sentence in the boxed statement. 3. Please note that the manual states that this is a 2mw device maximum. Please note that the report and other documentation indicate that the device produces about 4mw of EIRP. Please clarify is the power listed in the manual is conducted or EIRP. If the reference in the manual is EIRP, please correct the manual to reflect the actual power of the device in the application. 4. The manual also states that it is used with three antennae. Please note that the cover letter requesting modular approval appears to indicate only two antennae. Please clarify the module request documentation as to how many antennae are used with the device. 5. The test report lists three antennae. The request for modular approval also lists three antennae. However, one of the antennae listed is not the same. The test report states that an antenna model YCE-5255 was tested, yet the request for modular approval states that an antenna model YCE- 5252 is used. Please make all documentation consistent. Please correct either the report, the request letter or both to indicate that actual antenna tested. 6. Please note that the manual needs to provide installation procedures for the OEM. Please revise and include such installation instructions for the OEM in your manual. Frequency characteristics : 2402MHz through 2480MHz Number of channels/ channel spacing : 79 channels/ 1MHz channel spacing Modulation : GFSK (Low power Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS)) Antenna type : 1/4λ Monopole Antenna model : YCE-5255, SSW2400 and LDA92 Antenna Gain : 4.0dBi (Max) Operating Voltage : DC3.3V +/-0.2V (1.8V after regulated) The Alps, UGPZ3 with Bluetooth wireless technology is a radio device that transmits and receives radio signals in accordance with the spectrum regulations for the 2.4GHz unlicensed frequency range. 1. Output power, Bluetooth class 2 (+3.0dBm/ 0.002W max) 2. Voltage regulator built in. 3. Flash memory and reference oscillator built in. 4. Board to board connection through USB interface. 5.
