Do not use this remote control system on applications with voltages above 24 Volts AC/DC and 1 amp current. • This remote control system requires three (3) “AAA” alkaline batteries to power the transmitter. The receiver is powered by four (4) AA Alkaline batteries. • Wiring must conform to appliance requirement and building codes/ordinances as required by local and national code authorities having jurisdiction. • Do not short (or jumper) across the gas valve terminals to test the remote control installation. This could damage the unit and void the warranty. • This remote control system should only be used as described in this manual. Any other use is not recommended and will void the warranty. NOTE Due to the sensitive temperature monitoring components in the transmitter, it is necessary to allow the transmitter to stabilize to room temperature before accurate room temperatures are displayed. If the transmitter is activated from a severe cold condition, allow 15 minutes for accurate temperature readings to appear on the LCD display. WARNING Turn appliance OFF and allow to cool before installing or servicing. DO NOT connect 110-120 VAC wiring to the milli-volt gas control valve. The remote operator must be installed exactly as outlined in these instructions. Read all instructions completely before attempting installation. Follow instructions carefully during installation. Any modification of components will void the warranty and may cause a fire hazard. WARNING Turn appliance OFF (at the appliance or remote receiver) if you are away from your house for an extended period of time. Never leave anything on top of the surface of the transmitter. 50D0098 RCSITE Installation & Operating Manual Rel 0 Dec 2005 Page 3 of 10 Ambient Technologies A Division Of Monessen Hearth Systems INSTALLATIONS Remote Receiver: The remote receiver may be installed in the appliance per the appliance homeowner’s manual. Refer to the Homeowner’s Manual for special installation instructions. Failure to follow the installation instructions found in the appropriate Homeowner’s Manual will void the warranty and may cause a fire hazard. This system comes with an 22 inch two-wire assembly labled “FOR MILLVOLT VALVE ONLY, TP/TH” and an 10 inch four-wire assembly labeled “SIT VALVE ONLY”. Insert the white terminals into the back of the receiver. The terminal wire blocks can only be installed one way and do not force the terminal plugs into the receiver. Connect the wiring terminal two (2) ¼” female spade terminals to the appliance valve and four-pin connector to SIT valve. Refer to the appropriate Homeowner’s Manual for proper wiring connections to the appliance. Your appliance may have other options to connect wiring from receiver. WARNING STOP: Make sure SIT valve is correct. If not wired correctly, this could cause damage to receiver. Make sure that the wires do not contact the appliances any place other than at the terminals. Exposure to temperatures higher than 105C (250ºF) may cause the receiver to malfunction and cause possible fire hazard. 50D0098 RCSITE Installation & Operating Manual Rel 0 Dec 2005 Page 4 of 10 Ambient Technologies A Division Of Monessen Hearth Systems Back of the Transmitter Battery Door Tab Remote Transmitter : Installing Batteries: The remote transmitter uses three (3) “AAA” batteries. Kindly confirm this is not required or provide an appropriate cover letter. Response: This application not require for confidentiality. 2) Regarding IC labelling, a dash is only allowed between the CN number and UPN number. Please correct as currently the device can not be listed as shown on the labelling exhibit. Response: The label has revised. 3) Please note that IC requires 3 items on the label, (model, applicant, and Certification No. as Certified). The label does not appear to contain the applicant for this application. Please revise. Response: The label has revised. 4) Some information in the application supports operation of 350.12 MHz. Other information suggests 350 +/- 300 kHz which would imply a nominal operation of 350 MHz. Please confirm which nominal frequency is correct so this can be listed appropriately on the Certificate. Response: The product work frequency is 350.12MHz. 5) The device is portable and according to ANSI C63.4 should be tested while positioned in each of 3 axis to obtain worse case emissions. It does not appear this has been done. Please review and correct as necessary. Response: Pls see the page 12, clause 5.1 in the report. 6) Please explain photos in the test report from 21 – 26. These photos do not appear to be of the EUT. Response: The photos have replaced. 7) This device appears to operate off both manual and automatic activations. Manual activations appear acceptable. However automatic activations may require operation under 15.231(e) or 15.231(a) depending on how they behave. Please explain if turn on transmission (or turn off transmission) will repeat every 3 minutes, or does this only occur once until the turn off command is sent. If the transmission will only occur once per event (i.e. turn on only will TX once until turn off command is sent) – then 15.231(a) operation is considered acceptable. Response: The transmission will only occur once per event. 8) Please explain if the low battery detection only sends a single Transmission or does this repeat? Repeat transmission would be subject to 15.231(e). Response: The low battery detection only sends a single Transmission.
