Serial Number Generation Overview Serial numbers will be automatically generated sequentially from a single series of numbers. Serial numbers produced using this process will be unique on every unit produced, not just unique to a product family group. Only unique serial numbers will be generated; serial numbers will not be recycled. Serial numbers will include an encoded date stamp and can be used for tracking. A serial number will be 10 digits long and contain only hexadecimal digits. Refer to Table 1 for the format of the serial number and Table 2 for a description of the serial number fields. Table 1.
