Date: 2-Jan-2008 Hand Held Products Model Number Similarities Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this letter to inform you that several of our products are going through a Radio Module design change due to end-of-life module. The new radio module fits the same PCB footprint and requires no other electrical changes for compatibility. The product’s model numbers will stay the same and there will be no notification to the field marketing, as the product applications are interchangeable old or new radio module. The product contents are remaining the same otherwise, with other changes being the labeling contents and software. Product differences: 1. 3820 model family series: Linear optic engine, commercial housing construction. 2. 4820 model family series: Same items are the internal electrical PCB and schematic, radio and antenna, battery, internal mechanicals and external housing as 3820. Differences are the model and label changes, and the optical engine package (camera chip, plastic chamber, lens, mtg bracket) that reads the image of the barcode. 3. 4820i model family series: uses all the internal electrical, battery, internal mechanicals and optics as 4820. The external housing is the more rugged style of the industrial housing. a. Housing handle change b. Housing cover change c. Housing end cap (bottom of handle) change d. Also, changes to the LED light pipes, and brand-name logos for the aesthetics of the housings 4. NOTE: all models use the same PCB and electrical schematic. All models have the same version software stack for radio communications. All models use the same radio. All models use the same radio antenna.
