Please note that the FCC ID label information must also contain the FCC ID number. Please provide a label sample that has the actual FCC ID on the label. - 2. Please note that the block diagram of the system shows 802.11a/b. The 731 is only for 802.11b. The manual states that the device is only 802.11b (15.247). Please also note that the schematics appear to indicate a fully functional 802.11a min-PCI slot. Please explain why the mini-PCI slot is shown in the photos, in the block diagram and in the schematics. Is the 802.11a disabled? How, etc? If the slot is not disabled, how do you prevent insertion of an 802.11a miniPCI card? - 3. Please note that the operational description states the device is both a 15.247 and a 15.407 device. There is no indication on the 731 form nor in the report of 15.407 operation. As mentioned in item 2 there appears to be in fact a slot available for another miniPCI card of 15.407 capability. Please provide 15.407 test data. Alternately please explain how the manufacturer disables the second slot and please explain how this device is only a 15.247 device as submitted. - 4. FYI – Please note that the actual limit in the restricted bands above 1GHz is an average reading. The 20dB over the average is an additional requirement. However, limits on pass fail must address both. In your report you show an erroneous margin. The peak is only compared to the 20dB over limit and is not compared to the actual average limit. This means that the peaks (i.e. no average measurements were taken) for those frequencies listed they are actually 20dB closer to the limit than stated in the report. For example 4176 MHz is not 23.1dB under the limit but actually only 3.1dB under the actual limit of 54dB. - 5. For more detailed instruction, please take a look at the user’s manual. DSSS Information This device is Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum, the data is mixed by pseudorandom code which is an orthogonal code. The mixed data is digital modulated by BPSK and QPSK technique depends on the data rates. The CCK coding is applied for increasing the data rate, and also the processing gain will be increased. The bit rates are 1,2,5.5,11Mbps, the symbol rates are 1,1,1.375,1.375Mbps, the chip rates are always 11Mbps. So, the Chip/symbol is 11,11,8 and 8 respectively. Although is higher bit rate, the processing gain is lower than 10, but the CCK coding used in higher bit rate will provide 2.2dB coding gain.

Introduction In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2. Friis Formula Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm Pd is the limit of MPE, 1 mW/cm 2 . If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the MPE value at distance 20cm. Ref. : David K. EUT Operating condition The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 5. Classification This device is not fixed inside the host equipment, it is connected with host through wire. So it is easy to be re-located in the place where at least 20 cm far away from the body of the user. Warning statement to the user for keeping at least 20cm or more separation distance with the antenna should be included in users manual. So, this device is classified as Mobile Device.
