The WIT2492 radio certified under that ID was designed to be used in a wireless microphone transmitter that is worn on the hip of the user. As a result, the WIT2492 transmitter will be operating within 2.5 cm of a human body and requires a ‘portable’ designation. Per instructions from our TCB, in order to meet the more stringent FCC MPE requirements for portable operation, we are providing: • Information describing the radio operating conditions (Appendix 1). • Detailed calculations showing the maximum attainable transmit duty cycle and average power produced by the device (Appendices 2 and 3). • Updated verbiage in the user’s manual to satisfy RF exposure compliance with the new portable designation. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 Dear Application Examiner Regarding Part 15 Unlicensed Modular Transmitter Approval, the following requirements called out in FCC Public Notice DA 00-1407 are observed: 1. The WIT2492 has its own RF shielding. 2. The WIT2492 modular transmitter has buffered modulation/data inputs to ensure that the module will comply with Part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over- modulation. 3. The WIT2492 employs on board power supply regulation. 4. The WIT2492 employs a MMCX connector. Professional installation is required. 5. The WIT2492 was tested in a stand-alone configuration. 6. The WIT2492 has a label with the FCC ID: HSW-2492 7. The WIT2492 complies with FCC DTS for Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Operation. An Integration Guide is provided for every module sold. This guide instructs the user in the proper operation of the device. The text in the guide specifies FCC Part 15 compliance: 8. Based on the FCC interpretation on devices which employ both techniques, the WIT2492 demonstrated compliance with the DTS standards of Part 15.247 only. According to the FCC interpretation, there is no need to demonstrate compliance with both the FHSS standards and the DTS standards. Because the WIT2492 utilizes antennas of multiple types and gains, the highest gain antenna for each type was tested.
