8 September 2003 PO Box 1138 Suwanee, Georgia 30024 REF: WIT5811 Module Certification Dear Mr. Wismer: Regarding Part 15 Unlicensed Modular Transmitter Approval, the following requirements called out in FCC Public Notice DA 00-1407 are observed: 1. The WIT5811 has its own RF shielding. 2. The modulation point is internal to the WIT5811, there are no data or modulation inputs provided. 3. The WIT5811 employs on board power supply regulation. 4. The WIT5811 employs a MMCX connector. According to FCC Public Notice, DA 00-2225, the MMCX qualifies as a unique antenna coupler. 5. The WIT5811 was tested in a stand-alone configuration. 6. The WIT5811 has a label with the FCC ID: HSW-5811M 7. The WIT5811 complies with FCC 15.247 for digital transmission systems. An Integration Guide is provided for every module sold. This guide instructs the user in the proper operation of the device. The text in the guide specifies FCC Part 15 compliance: 8. The use of the WIT5811 in any application where the antenna is 20 cm or less distance to the body is not allowed. This is specified in the Integration Guide previous to the Table of Contents. The text follows: Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) Limits β€’ Information to user/installer regarding FCC s Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) limits. β€’ Notice to users/installers using the following fixed antennas, with Cirronet RF products: Mobile Mark 14dBi Corner Reflector, Cirronet 13dBi Patch Mobile Mark 9dBi Omnidirectional The field strength radiated by any one of these antennas, when connected to Cirronet RF products, may exceed FCC mandated RF exposure limits. FCC rules require professional installation of these antennas in such a way that the general public will not be closer than 20 cm from the radiating aperture of any of these antennas. End users of these systems must also be informed that RF exposure limits may be exceeded if personnel come closer than 20 cm to the apertures of any of these antennas. β€’ Notice to users/installers using the following mobile antenna, with Cirronet RF products: Ace 2dBi dipole The field strength radiated by any one of these antennas, when connected to Cirronet RF products, may exceed FCC mandated RF exposure limits. Detailed photographs of the EUT are included separately with this filing. 1.2.2 Intended Use The EUT is intended to be offered to OEM manufacturers for integration into their final products. Bowman Drive Buford, GA 30518 2.1 DESCRIPTION OF TEST FACILITY Both the Open Area Test Site(OATS) and Conducted Emissions site have been fully described, submitted to, and accepted by the FCC, Industry Canada and the Japanese Voluntary Control Council for Interference by information technology equipment. The following certification numbers have been issued in recognition of these accreditations and certifications: FCC Registration Number: 89450 Industry Canada Lab Code: IC 4175 VCCI Member Number: 1831 Βƒ VCCI OATS Registration Number R-1526 Βƒ VCCI Conducted Emissions Site Registration Number: C-1608 Model: WIT5811 FCC ID: HSW-5811M ACS Report: 03-0143-15BC Advanced Compliance Solutions Page 4 2.1.1 Open Area Test Site The open area test site consists of a 40’ x 66’ concrete pad covered with a perforated electro-plated galvanized sheet metal. The perforations in the sheet metal are 1/8” holes that are staggered every 3/16”. The individual sheets are placed to overlap each other by 1/4” and are riveted together to provide a continuous seam. Rivets are spaced every 3” in a 3 x 20 meter perimeter around the antenna mast and EUT area. Rivets in the remaining area are spaced as necessary to properly secure the ground plane and maintain the electrical continuity. The entire ground plane extends 12’ beyond the turntable edge and 16’ beyond the antenna mast when set to a 10 meter measurement distance. The ground plane is grounded via 4 - 8’ copper ground rods, each installed at a corner of the ground plane and bound to the ground plane using 3/4" stainless steel braided cable. The turntable is an all aluminum 10’ flush mounted table installed in an all aluminum frame. The table is remotely operated from inside the control room located 40’ from the range. The turntable is electrically bonded to the surrounding ground plane via steel fingers installed on the edge of the turn table. The steel fingers make constant contact with the ground plane during operation. Adjacent to the turntable is a 7’ x 7’ square and 4’ deep concrete pit used for support equipment if necessary. The pit is equipped with 5 - 4” PVC chases from the pit to the control room that allow for cabling to the EUT if necessary. Power output is conducted at the antenna terminal. This is an OEM module approved for use in products operating as a mobile transmitting device with respect to 2.1091. MPE compliance was demonstrated for typical antenna as shown in the filing. Final antenna installation and operating configurations of this transmitter including antenna gain and cable loss must not exceed the EIRP of the configuration used for calculating MPE. The module must transmit with a duty factor not exceeding 56.5%, controlled by protocol firmware and software. Products operating with this module are required to provide a minimum separation distance of at least 20 cm between the antenna and all persons during normal operation. Grantee must coordinate with OEM integrators to ensure the end-users of products operating with this module are provided with operating instructions to satisfy RF exposure requirements. Separate approval is required for all other operating configurations, including portable configurations with respect to 2.1093 and different antenna configurations.
