ZyAIR Wireless LAN Utility iv Information for Canadian Users Information for Canadian Users The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective operation and safety requirements. The Industry Canada does not guarantee that the equipment will operate to a user's satisfaction. Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. In some cases, the company's inside wiring associated with a single line individual service may be extended by means of a certified connector assembly. The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations. Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment. For their own protection, users should ensure that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines, and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas. Caution Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electrical inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate. Note This digital apparatus does not exceed the Class A limits for radio noise emissions from digital apparatus set out in the radio interference regulations of Industry. ZyAIR Wireless LAN Utility FCC Statement v Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Interference Statement The Wireless LAN Adapter has been tested to the FCC exposure requirements (Specific Adsorption Rate). This device complies with Part 15 of FCC rules. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 June 19, 2003 RE: ZyXEL Communications FCC ID: I88B220 I have a few comments on this Application. 1.) There appear to be two different test platforms used for this report; one for the EMC report and a second for the SAR report. Please explain the rationale for using a desktop system and a notebook computer. 2.) I have some confusion over the test reports. One appears to be an Intentional Radiator to Part 15 Subpart C, and the other seems to cover the Unintentional Radiator section of Part 15 Subpart B. When a Declaration of Conformity is used for a “computer peripheral” the FCC logo appears on the label, but it is not necessary to provide a full Certification report. If the DofC approval route is preferred, AmericanTCB does request domestic US point of contact information. Please advise. 3.) FYI: In the future, please limit your interior and exterior photos to one view per page. It would also be helpful to rotate the page 90 degrees and use “Landscape” orientation for clarity. William H. Graff President and Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.

As per your review comments, please see the explanation below: 1) In the beginning we executed the EMC test with desktop PC. After testing, we found the output power is over the SAR limit and SAR test is needed. Thus we performed the SAR test with the Notebook PC as one of the testing peripheral. After compared the output power with desktop PC and Notebook PC, the value is very close. 2) Sorry to confused you!!! I'm not know the rule of DofC very well. This project is applied for DofC approval, and the FCC Info as file attached for your reference. 3) Thanks for your advise. We'll improve it from next submission. If you have further question, please feel free to let me know. Intertek Testing Services ETL SEMKO FCC ID. : I88B220 Report No.: EME-030565 Page 2 of 66 STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE The ZyXEL sample device, model # ZyAIR B-220 was evaluated in accordance with the requirements for compliance testing defined in FCC OET Bulletin 65, Supplement C (Edition 01-01). Testing was performed at the Intertek Testing Services facility in Hsinchu, Taiwan. For the evaluation, the dosimetric assessment system INDEXSAR SARA2 was used. The phantom employed was the box phantom of 2mm thick in one wall. The total uncertainty for the evaluation of the spatial peak SAR values averaged over a cube of 1g tissue mass had been assessed for this system to be ±27.5%. The device was tested at their maximum output power declared by the ZyXEL In summary, the maximum spatial peak SAR value for the sample device averaged over 1g was found to be: Phantom Position SAR 1g , mW/g 2mm thick box phantom wall The EUT inserted into the left side of notebook PC, with EUT bottom touching the phantom. 0.652 mW/g. In conclusion, the tested Sample device was found to be in compliance with the requirements defined in OET Bulletin 65, Supplement C (Edition 01-01) for body configurations.
