CAUTION: 1. To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, a separation distance of at least 20 cm must be maintained between the antenna of this device and all persons. 2. This Transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter This device is intended only for OEM integrators under the following conditions: 1) The antenna must be installed such that 20 cm is maintained between the antenna and users. For laptop installations, the antenna must be installed to ensure that the proper spacing is maintained in the event the users places the device in their lap during use (i.e. positioning of antennas must be placed in the upper portion of the PDF created with FinePrint pdfFactory Pro trial version http://www.pdffactory.com 4 LCD panel only to ensure 20 cm will be maintained if the user places the device in their lap for use) and 2) The transmitter module may not be co-located with any other transmitter or antenna. As long as the 2 conditions above are met, further transmitter testing will not be required. However, the OEM integrator is still responsible for testing their end- product for any additional compliance requirements required with this module installed (for example, digital device emissions, PC peripheral requirements, etc.). IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that these conditions can not be met (for example certain laptop configurations or co-location with another transmitter), then the FCC authorization is no longer considered valid and the FCC ID can not be used on the final product. In these circumstances, the OEM integrator will be responsible for re-evaluating the end product (including the transmitter) and obtaining a separate FCC authorization. End Product Labeling This transmitter module is authorized only for use in devices where the antenna may be installed such that 20 cm may be maintained between the antenna and users (for example access points, routers, wireless ASDL modems, certain laptop configurations, and similar equipment). The final end product must be labeled in a visible area with the following: "Contains TX FCC ID: I88G110". RF Exposure Manual Information That Must be Included The users manual for end users must include the following information in a prominent location "IMPORTANT NOTE: To comply with FCC RF exposure PDF created with FinePrint pdfFactory Pro trial version http://www.pdffactory.com 5 compliance requirements, the antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be co- located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter." Additional Information That Must be Provided to OEM Integrators The end user should NOT be provided any instructions on how to remove or install the device. Costomer Support in U.S.A. Introduction The EUT operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band. The EUT (antenna included) is compliant with modular approval and the normal operation distance (after installing in other device, such as router or access point), 20cm from the human body; therefore, the EUT is defined as a Mobile Device. The reason to do the MPE Evaluation is to avoid the RF hazard to human body. The maximum output power and gain of the antenna were used to calculate the limited Power density (S) at 20cm distance away from the product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b). Limits for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A) Limits for Occupational / Control Exposures 30-300 61.4 0.163 1.0 6 300-1500 - - F/300 6 1500-100,000 - - 5 6 (B) Limits for General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 30-300 27.5 0.073 0.2 30 300-1500 - - F/1500 30 1500-100,000 - - 1.0 30 F= Frequency in MHz PDF created with FinePrint pdfFactory Pro trial version http://www.pdffactory.com FCC ID. : I88G110 Report No.: EME-040257 Page 5 of 5 3. RF Exposure calculations From §FCC 1.1310 table 1, the maximum permissible RF exposure for an uncontrolled environment is 1mW/(cm 2 ) Power density (S) is calculated by the following formula: S = (P * G)/4πR 2 where, S = Power density (mW/cm 2 ) P = Output power to antenna (mW) R = Distance between radiating structure and observation point (cm) G = Gain of antenna in numeric π = 3.1416 Example: Assume a mobile device operates at 2412MHz and its maximum output power is 50mW, and the maximum gain of antenna is 1 (numeric) /0dBi. then the power density (S) = (50 * 1)/4*π*20 2 = 0.00995 (mW/cm 2 ) 4. Test results Worst Case Condition: 802.11b (DSSS Modulation) Channel Channel Frequency (MHz) Maximum antenna gain (numeric) Output power to antenna (mW) Power density (mW/cm 2 ) Limit of power density (mW/cm 2 ) 1 2412 1.58 80.35 0.025 1.0 6 2437 1.58 97.05 0.031 1.0 11 2462 1.58 96.83 0.031 1.0 The Notice in Installation Manual has been stated as below: While installing and operating this transmitter, the radio frequency exposure limit of 1mW/(cm*cm) may be exceeded at distances close to the transmitter. therefore, the user must maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm from the device at all time. Testing was performed at the Intertek Testing Services facility in Hsinchu, Taiwan. For the evaluation, the dosimetric assessment system INDEXSAR SARA2 was used. The phantom employed was the box phantom of 2mm thick in one wall. The total uncertainty for the evaluation of the spatial peak SAR values averaged over a cube of 1g tissue mass had been assessed for this system to be ±29.7%. The device was tested at their maximum output power declared by the ZyXEL. In summary, the maximum spatial peak SAR value for the sample device averaged over 1g was found to be: Phantom Position SAR 1g , mW/g 2mm thick box phantom wall EUT perpendicular to the phantom, 0 mm separation. 0.32 mW/g.
