This system uses the proven performance of Garmin GPS and full-featured mapping to create an unsurpassed portable GPS receiver. When the receiver is in communication with the transmitter it becomes a highly accurate tracking device, capable of monitoring up to ten transmitters at a time. Compare the contents of this package with the packing list on the box. If any pieces are missing, contact your Garmin dealer immediately. To get the most out of your new navigation/tracker system, take time to read this manual and learn the operating procedures for your unit in detail. This manual is organized into the following sections. The Introduction contains manual conventions, the Table of Contents, the software license agreement, product registration, and product care information. The Getting Started section provides an overview of the unit, how to turn the unit on, and acquire satellites. The Basic Operation section provides information about setting up waypoints, routes, and tracks. Disclosure would also offer competitors additional unwarranted insight into the state of the product development, thereby allowing competitors an advantage, not available to Garmin International, Inc. 6. Identification of any measures taken by the submitting party to prevent unauthorized disclosure: The information for which confidential treatment is sought is kept confidential by Garmin International, Inc. and not made available to third parties except pursuant to non-disclosure agreements. 7. Identification of whether the information is available to the public and the extent of any previous disclosure of the information to third parties: To the knowledge of those preparing this application, the information has not been disclosed publicly heretofore. While the general theory of operation of this equipment has been the subject of numerous disclosures in industry and standards groups as well as in rule making proceedings of the FCC, the protection sought is narrowly drawn and pertains to certain specific implementations of this radio technology. 8. Justification of the period during which the submitting party asserts that the material should not be available for public disclosure: This material should not be disclosed for at least 25 years. While improvements in design are made relatively frequently, disclosure of the design information would lead to insights into both design and manufacturing techniques that could have an adverse competitive effect for many years to come. This equipment is designed for commercial, industrial, and governmental applications. As such, unlike most consumer equipment, this equipment could be used for more than a decade in some cases. As such, it is important that the design not be made available to unauthorized persons who might attempt to use knowledge of the design to compromise the applications for which the equipment will be employed. We did this to make sure that the user will be forced to look at the ID number before using the product since he will be required to install batteries in the unit. In addition, we felt that this location would be more durable, thereby guaranteeing that the label will remain with the unit for the duration of its lifetime. Power and deviation are calibrated in the Cypress factory at the time of IC assembly. To adjust the frequency reference, Y1200, the factory probes the output of the clock buffer, I1201 and adjusts the digital POT, I1200, up or down until the reference frequency is within ±10Hz of its target, 12MHz.

The equipment is a handheld GPS receiver allowing location and direction monitoring. The equipment may interface to a computer allowing for software updating of the GPS map system. The transmitter is fully enclosed in a sealed case. The unit does not offer modification or adjustment by the end user. The rear of the case opens to allow for battery replacement and view of the FCC ID label. The transmit antenna is incorporated on the printed circuit board and does not allow for modification or alteration. The transmitter operates as a low power license exempt intentional radiator operating between 2.4- 2.4835 GHz governed by CFR47 15.249. The design incorporates a VHF receiver allowing reception of transmitted data from a remote MURS transmitter. The transmissions are received on the synchronized receiver carried by the sports enthusiast allowing them to monitor the location of the MURS transmitter.
