GN-B46B Wireless Broadband Router User Guide 41 WAN Configuration This page is the further configuration of the WAN connection. You can setup up to 4 WAN connection entries. Each entry may has it’s own connection type (PPPoE, PPPoE Unnumber, Dynamic IP address, Static IP address) and some other properties. For example, when you click the “Edit” button of the ISP No.1 (WAN Type: Dynamic IP Address) on the table then there will appear the screen as follows. Click “Next”. GN-B46B Wireless Broadband Router User Guide nISP Name, Host Name, Gateway, DNS1 and DNS2 Address, DNS Domain Name Those information are provided by your ISP company. nMTU(Maximum Transmission Unit) This defines the maximum size of the packets sent from your computer onto the network. Any messages larger than the MTU are divided into smaller packets before being sent. Leave this on the default value(1500) unless you have a particular reason to change it. nNAT Setup The Internet is expanding at an exponential rate. As the amount of information and resources increases, it is becoming a requirement for even the smallest businesses and homes to connect to the Internet. Network Address Translation (NAT) is a method of connecting multiple computers to the Internet (or any other IP network) using one IP address. This allows home users and small businesses to connect their network to the Internet cheaply and efficiently. Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is an architecture for pervasive peer-to- peer network connectivity of PCs and intelligent devices or appliances, particularly within the home. UPnP builds on Internet standards and technologies, such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and XML, to enable these devices to automatically connect with one another and work together to make networking - particularly home networking - possible for more people. GN-B46B Wireless Broadband Router User Guide 43 Normal user please select “NAT enable” or “UPnP&NAT” then connect to the Internet in general. Verify the desired setting and then click the “Finish” button to set the value into GN-B46B. And then the screen will transfer to WAN configuration setting page. WAN Configuration Setting There are four WAN configuration setting you may setup on WAN Configuration page. From this page, you can select which WAN Configuration Setting you would like to use now. Verify the desired setting and then click the “Submit” button to set the value into GN- B46B. GN-B46B Wireless Broadband Router User Guide &Other WAN Type of the WAN configuration: PPPoE nISP Name, User ID, Password, Service Name, AC Name, DNS1 and DNS2 Address, DNS Domain Name Those information are provided by your ISP company. nAuthentication Type You may choose between “Auto”, “CHAP” and “PAP”. The default is set to “Auto”. Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol(CHAP). This is the preferred method of authentication for PPP dialup links. With CHAP, the server sends a challenge to which the remote router sends an encrypted reply containing a secret key. Password Authentication Protocol(PAP) is a simple authentication protocol for PPP allowing a router to identify itself with another router by sending asimple name and password combination. PAP is defined in RFC1334. GN-B46B Wireless Broadband Router User Guide 45 nDial on Demand EnableWhen you are not using the Internet for a while then the WAN connection will be automaticly disconnected. If you want to use the Internet again then the WAN connection will be automaticly reconnected to WAN. DisableWhen the WAN connection is automatically disconnected and you want to use the Internet again then you will have to manually reconnect to Internet. Static IP Address nISP Name, WAN IP Address, WAN Subnet Mask, WAN Gateway, DNS1 and DNS2, DNS Domain Name Those information are provided by your ISP company. If your ISP company gives you more than one IP address, and then select one of them to fill in the above form. If it did not appear properly region please contact your local distributor or authorized reseller immediately. nHW info The information of the Wireless Lan Card. nRF Type Only suppourt IEEE802.11b standard. nChannel Please choose the channel, which you can get best performance. Normally, it doesn’t need to change. The default value is channel 6. GN-B46B Wireless Broadband Router User Guide nSSID The SSID is the name represent the router in the wireless network. This SSID string is case sinsitive of up to 32 ASCII characters. The default value is “GIGABYTE”, if the setup value is the default value, like “router”. Only can accept the computer connection, which use the wireless card SSID (or ESSID) set up, is “router”. nRate You can select one of the rates among 1M, 2M, 5.5M and 11M based on your need. The default value is “auto/best”. nHidden SSID This setting allows you to hide the SSID in wireless transmission. Those who don’t know the SSID will be able connect to the router. The default value is “disable”. nAuthentication Type You may choose between “Open System”, “Shared Key”, and “Open system & Shared Key”. The Authentication Type default is set to “Open System”. Open System, in which the sender and the recipient do NOT share a secret key. Each party generates its own key-pair and asks the receiver to accept the randomly generated key. Once accepted, this key is used for a short time only. Then a new key is generated and agreed upon. Shared Key is both the sender and the recipient share a secret key. If the “Shared Key…

FCC ID: JCK-GN-B46B After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) The users manual (page 2 of 40) mentions the use of shielded cables, however this device appears to have been tested with unshielded cables. Additionally, page 8 of 40 of the users manual does not appear to address shielded or unshielded cables. Please explain and correct the users manual if necessary. 2) Page 31 of 32 (page 71) mentions the output power as 15 dBm. However the measured output power was 19.0 dBm. This is significantly greater than that specified in the users manual. Please explain. 3) The same concerns above also exist in the users manual for the 2 nd model. Timothy R. Operational Description

FCC ID: JCK-GN-B46B ADT No.920717R03 Operational Description The transmitter of the EUT is powered by power adapter. The antenna type is Dipole antenna without connector. Under normal use condition, the user has to keep at least 20cm separation distance between radiator and the body of the user. The other instruction, please have a look at the users manual. DSSS Information This device is Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum, the data is mixed by pseudorandom code which is an orthogonal code. The mixed data is digital modulated by BPSK and QPSK technique depends on the data rates. The CCK coding is applied for increasing the data rate, and also the processing gain will be increased. The bit rates are 1,2,5.5,11Mbps, the symbol rates are 1,1,1.375,1.375Mbps, the chip rates are always 11Mbps. So, the Chip/symbol is 11,11,8 and 8 respectively. Although is higher bit rate, the processing gain is lower than 10, but the CCK coding used in higher bit rate will provide 2.2dB coding gain.

Introduction In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2.
