TITLE: Mobiltex OVPC2 Hardware User Manual Calgary, Alberta DOCUMENT NO.: OVPC2-MAN-001 SHEET: 3 of 10 REV: 004 This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, may cause interference harmful to radio communications. There is no guarantee, however, that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. This device has been evaluated for body-worn FCC RF exposure compliance with body holster, part number MOB-H7500SW-FX6. In order to comply with body-worn FCC RF exposure requirements, this device must only be operated with body holster part number MOB-H7500SW-FX6, and a minimum distance of 2.0cm should be maintained between the front of the body holster (antenna side) and user/bystander. This device contains an internal radio transmitter with an FCC identifier. Only the FCC identifier shown on the external label of th…

American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 October 8, 2003 RE: FCC ID: KLU03472 Attention: Jon Hughes I have a few comments on this Application. 1. Please note that the FCC ID label sheet states that it is proprietary information and not to be disclosed. Please note that this is not possible. FCC ID label information is not confidential and will be public information when granted. Please remove the proprietary statement on the label exhibit. (you can drop all but page 3 of the exhibit). 2. Please note that the antenna specs do not agree with the operational description. The operational description states the removable antenna has a gain of -1dBi while the antenna specs state a gain of -2dBi. Are they the same antenna? Please explain. 3. Please provide the schematics for the rf modem transmitter. These items are generally confidential and may not be available in the original filing for the modem. 4. Please note that the antenna appears to be able to be removed from the “antenna pouch” and used outside the pouch. What measures have been taken to avoid this situation and what tests have been performed to show compliance with the antenna outside the pouch? Please explain. 5. Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.

The device was tested using a 2 cm separation with the front facing the phantom because the user’s fatty part of his arm may be in front of the antenna during transmission. It is also for consideration of bystanders. This 2 cm separation note was to account for these situations. Thanks Dennis

FCC ID: KLU03472 (Model: OVPC2) 4 of 12 Body-worn Data Transmitter with RIM 902 Mobitex Radio Modem Test Report S/N: 092403-423KLU Test Date(s): Sept. 30 - Oct. 01, 2003 Test Type: FCC Part 90 EMC Measurements The peak conducted power levels were measured at the RIM 902 Mobitex radio modem RF port with a Gigatronics 8652A Universal Power Meter in burst average power mode. An offset was entered into the power meter to correct for the losses of the attenuator and cable installed before the sensor input. The transmitter terminal was coupled to the power meter and the DUT was placed in test mode using the RIM 902 Mobitex test software with the internal transmitter in modulated carrier mode (25% duty cycle) at a full rated power. All subsequent tests were performed using the same power measurement procedures. The DUT was placed in test mode using the RIM 902 Mobitex test software with the internal transmitter in modulated carrier mode (25% duty cycle) at a full rated power. The level of the carrier and the various conducted spurious frequencies were measured using a calibrated spectrum analyzer. The resolution bandwidth and video bandwidth were set to 1MHz. The spectrum was scanned from 10MHz to 20GHz at the low, mid, and high channels. The antenna output terminal of the DUT was connected to the input of a 50Ω spectrum analyzer through a matched 30dB attenuator and coaxial cable. The reported emissions were below the specified limit of -20dBm. The test results are shown in Appendix A. Radiated spurious emissions were measured on a 3-meter open area test site using the Signal Substitution Method in accordance with ANSI TIA/EIA-603-A-2001. The DUT was placed in test mode using the RIM 902 Mobitex test software with the internal transmitter in modulated carrier mode (25% duty cycle) at a full rated power. The DUT was placed on the turntable w…
