Range Extender Interface Operation When the BBU is operating and powering the range extender, the range extender operates and performs normally. The range extender does not power off any interfaces to conserve power when AC power is not available, and the range extender is being powered by the BBU. BBU Firmware Upgrade It is only possible to use the CG-NMS to upgrade the BBU firmware and to show information about the BBU firmware upgrade. To upgrade the BBU firmware and to show information about the BBU firmware upgrade, use the CG-NMS firmwa re upgrade option. The firmware upgrade is executed in background and an output message is generated in the CG-NMS when th e BBU firmware upgrade is complete. The T-Bit is set at the factory and is used to place the BBU in a disabled (lo w power) state. This is necessary in order to preserve the battery charge while the WPAN range extender device (with BBU installed) is in storage, or being transported between the factory and the final installation site. Regarding Professional Installation: 1) Justify what is special or unique about this system which would require system to be professionally installed. The range extenders, (both base and advanced) will extend the range of a RF900 wireless mesh network, providing longer reach between WPAN endpoints and other WPAN networks. It will provide the necessary Omni or directional antennas and optional backup battery in a ruggedized IP67 outdoor enclosure. It will operate in an ambient temperature range of -40C to +70C. It is intended to operate inside a RF900 mesh network, providing DA control over devices that use Serial (RS232/RS485), USB, or FE (Fast Ethernet) ports for intelligent control. 2) Explain marketing avenues; devices cannot be accessible or marketed to the general public Cisco does not sell these products directly to end users; these devices are sold through distributors or resellers, business to business. The very nature of this product is to provide networking in the utility industry, using 900 MHz radios for mesh networks by the utility industry eliminates the use of this product by the general public. It is intended to operate inside a RF900 mesh network, providing DA control over devices that use Serial (RS232/RS485), USB, or FE (Fast Ethernet) ports for intelligent control. It will complement the CGR1000 series of routers, primarily in the electrical grid by providing a low cost, low power, small size DA solution.
