• Some people (about 1 in 4000) may have seizures or blackouts triggered by light flashes or patterns, and this may occur while they are watching TV or playing video games, even if they have never had a seizure before. • Anyone who has had a seizure, loss of awareness, or other symptom linked to an epileptic condition should consult a doctor before playing a video game. • Parents should watch their children play video games. Stop playing and consult a doctor if you or your child has any of the following symptoms: Convulsions Eye or muscle twitching Loss of awareness Altered vision Involuntary movements Disorientation • To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games: 1. Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible. 2. Play video games on the smallest available television screen. 3. Do not play if you are tired or need sleep. 4. Play in a well-lit room. 5. Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour. Playing video games can make your muscles, joints, skin or eyes hurt. Follow these instructions to avoid problems such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, skin irritation or eyestrain: • Avoid excessive play. Parents should monitor their children for appropriate play. • Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour, even if you don't think you need it. • If your hands, wrists, arms or eyes become tired or sore while playing, or if you feel symptoms such as tingling, numbness, burning or stiffness, stop and rest for several hours before playing again. • If you continue to have any of the above symptoms or other discomfort during or after play, stop playing and see a doctor. • When using the stylus, you do not need to grip it tightly or press it hard against the screen. Doing so may cause fatigue or discomfort. Nintendo portable video game systems contain a rechargeable lithium ion battery pack. Leakage of ingredients contained within the battery pack, or the combustion products of the ingredients, can cause personal injury as well as damage to your Nintendo DS. If battery leakage occurs, avoid contact with skin. If contact occurs, immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water. If liquid leaking from a battery pack comes into contact with your eyes, immediately flush thoroughly with water and see a doctor. To avoid battery leakage: • Do not expose battery to excessive physical shock, vibration, or liquids. • Do not disassemble, attempt to repair or deform the battery. • Do not dispose of battery pack in a fire. • Do not touch the terminals of the battery, or cause a short between the terminals with a metal object. • Do not peel or damage the battery label. The Nintendo DS can emit radio waves that can affect the operation of nearby electronics, including cardiac pacemakers. • Do not operate the Nintendo DS within 9 inches of a pacemaker while using the wireless feature. • If you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, do not use the wireless feature of the Nintendo DS without first consulting your doctor or the manufacturer of your medical device. • Observe and follow all regulations and rules regarding use of wireless devices in locations such as hospitals, airports, and on board aircraft. Operation in those locations may interfere with or cause malfunctions of equipment, with resulting injuries to persons or damage to property. HARDWARE PRECAUTIONS / MAINTENANCE 1. Do not disassemble or try to repair the Nintendo DS, components or accessories. Doing so voids your warranty. 2. Always turn the Nintendo DS power OFF before loading or removing a Game Card. Insert the Game Card completely until it clicks into place, without forcing either the Game Card or the Nintendo DS. 3. Do not store the Nintendo DS in a humid place, on the floor or in any location where it may contact moisture, dirt, dust, lint, or other foreign material. 4. Do not drop, hit or otherwise abuse the Nintendo DS, components or accessories. This may damage the LCD screens or other precision components of the Nintendo DS. 5. Make sure all connections to the Nintendo DS are made carefully and inserted into the correct locations only. Hold plugs straight when inserting them into a socket. 6. When disconnecting any plugs from the Nintendo DS or wall outlet, first turn the Nintendo DS OFF. Then carefully pull by the plug itself rather than by the cord. Do not step on, sharply pull or bend any wires or cables. 7. Do not expose the Nintendo DS, Game Cards or any of the Nintendo DS components or accessories to extreme heat or cold. The liquid crystal displays (LCD) may become slower or may not work when the temperature is low. The LCD will deteriorate at a high temperature. Take care not to expose the Nintendo DS to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. 8. The LCD screens may be damaged by sharp objects or pressure. Take great care to protect the displays from scratches or stains. 9. Connect ONLY accessories designed and licensed for use with the Nintendo DS to any external connectors. 10. Do not spill liquids on the Nintendo DS, Game Cards or other components or accessories. If the Nintendo DS comes into contact with liquids, wipe clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth (use water only). Remove the battery cover and battery. If liquid came into contact with the battery, do not reuse it. Applicant/Grantee HON HAI PRECISION IND. CO., LTD. FCC ID: MCLJ27H020 Section 15.212 Modular Transmitters Request for Modular Approval Request for Limited Modular Approval Requirements EUT Conditions Comply (Y/N) Single Modular Approval Requirements 1 The radio elements of the modular transmitter must have their own shielding. The physical crystal and tuning capacitors may be located external to the shielded radio elements. Device is equipped with Metal shielding to cover RF section. Refer to external photos Y 2 The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with Part 15 requirements under conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation. All inputs to the modules are buffered through logic U1 inputs. Refer to Block Diagram. Y 3 The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. 3.3 V and 1.8V regulated DC voltage are fed from the host. N 4 The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna and transmission system requirements of Sections 15.203, 15.204(b) and 15.204(c). The antenna must either be permanently attached or employ a “unique” antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable). The “professional installation” provision of Section 15.203 is not applicable to modules but can apply to limited modular approvals under paragraph (b) of this section. Device is equipped with unique antenna (KK23017-01-7F (Hon Hai Precision) or 20279-001E-01 (I-PEX)) connector. Refer to external photos ・ Y 5 The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand- alone configuration, i.e., the module must not be inside another device during testing for compliance with Part 15 requirements. Unless the transmitter module will be battery powered, it must comply with the AC line conducted requirements found in Section 15.207. AC or DC power lines and data input/output lines connected to the module must not contain ferrites, unless they will be marketed with the module (see Section 15.27(a)). Any accessories, peripherals, or support equipment connected to the module during testing shall be unmodified and commercially available (see Section 15.31(i)). Device was tested inside of the final product for limited modular approval. Refer to setup photos. N 6 The modular transmitter must be equipped with either a permanently affixed label or must be capable of electronically displaying its FCC identification number. (A) If using a permanently affixed label, the modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC identification number, and, if the FCC identification number is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must also display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: “Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: XYZMODEL1” or “Contains FCC ID: XYZMODEL1.” Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The Grantee may either provide such a label, an example of which must be included in the application for equipment authorization, or, must provide adequate instructions along with the module which explain this requirement. In the latter case, a copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. (B) If the modular transmitter uses an electronic display of the FCC identification number, the information must be readily accessible and visible on the modular transmitter or on the device in which it is installed. If the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: “Contains FCC certified transmitter module(s).” Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The user manual must include instructions on how to access the electronic display. A copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. The proposed FCC ID label format is to be placed on the module. If FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed into the system, “Contains FCC ID: MCLJ27H020” shall be placed on the outside of final host system. Y 7 The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rules or operating requirements that ordinarily apply to a complete transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. A copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. Refer to “User’s Guide” Exhibit Y 8 The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements in its final configuration. Meet RF exposure compliance requirement Y A limited modular approval may be granted for single or split modular transmitters that do not comply with all of the above requirements, e.g., shielding, minimum signaling amplitude, buffered modulation/data inputs, or power supply regulation, if the manufacturer can demonstrate by alternative means in the application for equipment authorization that the modular transmitter meets all the applicable Part 15 requirements under the operating conditions in which the transmitter will be used. Limited modular approval also may be granted in those instances where compliance with RF exposure rules is demonstrated only for particular product configurations. The applicant for certification must state how control of the end product into which the module will be installed will be maintained such that full compliance of the end product is always ensured.
