American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 April 2, 2003 RE: Ambit Microsystems Corporation FCC ID: MCLU58H002 I have a few comments on this Application. 1.) This equipment is an RF category “Portable” device used at a distance less than 2.5cm to the head with an RF power output in excess of 60mW/f(GHz). Therefore, a SAR evaluation will be required and not an MPE estimation. Why was MPE estimation included in addition to SAR report? 2.) Please better segregate photos into Exterior views, and Interior views. Please also note the ATCB website has separate “pigeon holes” for inside and outside photographs. 3.) Manual does not have language prohibiting modifications as specified in 15.21. 4.) Manual has a reference to a module. For clarity, this should be removed unless Applicant is seeking approval for an RF module. 5.) The DofC attestation is unsatisfactory. The name and address of a US based representative is required. 6.) The operational description will have to be revised. It is not possible for a user to maintain 20cm distance with a held-to-the-ear phone. 7.) The SAR report supplied is incomplete. No plots of any kind were included. Last page included of the SAR report is pp. 16. 8.) Antenna gain claimed in Test Report is 1dBi. This is quite different than that quoted in MPE estimation. 9.) This device is small enough to be slipped into the pocket. Therefore body SAR results must be included 10.) Is there a belt clip or holster associated with this device? If so body SAR must be tested with these devices. 11.) Are their any other accessories (multiple battery configurations, earphones, cameras) which can be included with this device? If so they must be included in the SAR report and listed in the manual. William H. Graff President and Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Operational Description

FCC ID: MCLU58H002 ADT No.920106H01 Operational Description The transmitter of the EUT, Cisco Wireless IP Phone 7920, is powered by power adapter, charger and batteries. The antenna is Dipole Antenna without connector. The other instruction, please have a look at the users manual. DSSS Information This device is Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum, the data is mixed by pseudorandom code which is an orthogonal code. The mixed data is digital modulated by BPSK and QPSK technique depends on the data rates. The CCK coding is applied for increasing the data rate, and also the processing gain will be increased. The bit rates are 1,2,5.5,11Mbps, the symbol rates are 1,1,1.375,1.375Mbps, the chip rates are always 11Mbps. So, the Chip/symbol is 11,11,8 and 8 respectively. Although is higher bit rate, the processing gain is lower than 10, but the CCK coding used in higher bit rate will provide 2.2dB coding gain.
