Issue Date: July 6 th , 2015 INTRODUCTION This DECT ULE S PIR detector is an advanced, fully supervised low-current wireless detector that includes a DECT ULE transceiver for reliable system operation. This DECT ULE S PIR detector includes APS mechanism for extending the battery lives (see below to learn more). This DECT ULE S PIR detector includes series of messages for full communication administration (Keep Alive, Tamper Status, Battery Status, Alert, Configuration, etc.) as well as test transmission signals. This product require professional installation in accordance with UL 681. FEATURES  DECT ULE RF protocol.  Low current Technology.  Powered by a single 3V Lithium battery.  Battery life: up to 4 years.  Frequency Band: All DECT Standard Bands.  Tamper Open/Close transmission.  Keep Alive transmission.  Battery status transmission.  Bi-Color LED indications for monitoring & Pairing.  Range up to 500m on open space.  Back Tamper.  Remotely configurable.  Motion Detection up to 12m.  Friendly Pairing and Installation processes. 4 5 6 OPERATION This DECT ULE S PIR detector transmits the following events data: KEEP ALIVE – A periodical transmission indicating detector’s presence. The time interval is configurable – the minimum value is 1 minute. ALARM – Alarm transmission triggered by the device indicating Motion detection. The Red LED will blink once. LOW BAT – Whenever the battery reaches a pre- set low level (~2.5V), a Battery Low signal will be sent. When Battery level drops below Cut Off level (~2.3V) the device will stop functioning and the Red LED will be constantly lighted On. TAMPER – Whenever the cover is removed from Bracket or the device is tear off from the wall, a message will be transmitted with “Tamper ON” signal. Open the screw cover as shown in Figure 1. 2. Unscrew the holding screw and eparate the device from the Bracket by tilting the front cover as shown in Figure 2. 3. Place a battery as instructed in Figure 3 and wait until the Red LED stops blinking. 4. Initiate the Base Station paring process. 5. Initiate the PIR pairing process by pressing the pairing button for 5 seconds – the pairing button is shown in Figure 4. The Green LED will constantly turn On. When the Green LED starts blinking release the pairing button. 6. The device should register to the Base Station. 7. When registration process is successfully completed the Green LED will constantly light On for 3 seconds and then turn Off. 8. If registration process failed the Red LED will blink (remove the battery and run the pairing process again). FIGURE 4 - PAIRING 10 11 12 SELECT MOUNTING LOCATION Choose a location most likely to intercept an intruder. (Our recommendation is a corner installation). See Figure 6 - Detection Pattern. The detector is more sensitive detecting motion crossing the space in front of the detector then moving toward the detector. Recommended mounting height – 1.9m-2.3m. Avoid the following locations:  Facing direct sunlight.  Facing areas that may change temperature rapidly.  Areas where there are air ducts or substantial airflows. This device detect or performs better when provided with a constant and stable environment. MOUNTING THE DETECTOR 1. Open the screw cover as shown in Figure 1. 2. Unscrew the holding screw and eparate the device from the Bracket by tilting the front cover as shown in Figure 2. 3. Mount the Bracket to the wall: place 3 screws and make sure you tighten the tamper screw - the middle screw. 4. For flat mounting on a wall use the middle 3 screws location as shown in Figure 5. For mounting in a 45 degrees position, use the 3 screws locations on the bracket’s sides. 5. Place a battery as instructed in Figure 3 and wait until the Red LED stops blinking. 6. Initiate the Pairing process. 7. Place the device in the Bracket by inserting it back into appropriate position. 8. Fasten holding screw and close screw cover. Note: The Detector can be mounted to a Wall/Celling using an optional Wall/Celling Mount Bracket or Adhesive Tapes – for more details see Crow P/N 7104107 REV. A. FIGURE 5 - INSTALLATION 13 14 15 FIGURE 6 - DETECTION PATERN TRANSMISSION TESTS Tamper transmission test – Changing the tamper switch state (by attaching / removing the device to / from the Bracket) will cause tamper transmissions. Verify receiving the indication on your Application / Base Station. Motion transmission test – Waving hands or moving in front of the detector from one side to the other will cause Motion alert transmissions. Verify receiving the indication on your Application / Base Station. Pay attention that due to APS feature it is required waiting 2 minutes between 2 consecutive indications. Identification transmission test – Use your Application / Base Station and send Identification Request to the device. The device will start blinking the Green & Red LEDs alternately – 5 times each LED starting with the Green LED. BATTERY REPLACEMENT 1. Open the screw cover as shown in Figure 1. 2. Unscrew the holding screw and eparate the device from the Bracket by tilting the front cover as shown in Figure 2. 3. Remove the in use battery from the device using the Red strip. 4. Return the Red strip to its location inside the battery holder and install the new battery in the correct polarity marking on the Red strip – as shown in Figure 3. 5. Wait until the Red LED stops blinking. 6. In case the device was paired to a Base Station the device should automatically register again to the same Base Station. 7. Place the device in the Bracket by inserting it back into appropriate position and validate receiving the Tamper Alert Off indication …

FIGURE 3 - PAIRING SELECT MOUNTING LOCATION As the device is a wireless transceiver, and in order to take full advantage of it’s sophisticated operation, do not install the detector in areas where large metal objects could interfere with the transmission of signals. Installation is not allowed on a ferromagnetic surface. 10 11 12 FIGURE 4 – WAY OF INSTALLATION Opening Direction Axis: X-Y or X-Z WAY OF INSTALLATION It is recommended to mount the device vertically on a flat area to get maximum range. It is recommended to attach the transmitter to the fixed frame and the small magnet to the moveable part (door or window), as shown on Figure 4. It is very important to mount the small Magnet part as closes as possible to the transmitter part and in the correct location. On the transmitter there are 2 knobs emphasizing the relatively correct location of the small magnet – see Figure 5. The height of the small magnet relatively to the transmitter part should be no more than 10mm lower or higher or to the side of the transmitter. This, of course, depend the Window / Door structure. Mount the Bracket to the surface by using the adhesive tape strip or by using the 3 screws as shown in Figure 6. If using the screws, make sure to tighten the tamper screw - the middle screw. 4. Mount the small Magnet part on the moveable part, using the adhesive tape or the screws as shown in Figures 4 & 5. 5. Perform the Pairing process as described above in this document. 6. Validate the installation by generating Open / Close Alert indication. 7. Place the device in the Bracket by inserting it back into its appropriate position – as shown in Figure 1. 8. Fasten the holding screw and close the screw cover. This DECT ULE FLD uses smart message control, which verifies that all messages are successfully transmitted, so that no event will be uninformed to the system. TAMPER – Whenever the DECT ULE FLD cover is removed or tore off the wall, a message will be transmitted with “Tamper” signal. PREPARE THE DEVICE FOR INSTALLATION 1. Open the screw cover and unscrew the holding screw as shown in Figure 1. 2. Separate the device from the Bracket by tilting the front cover as shown in Figure 1. 3. Break one piece of the Bracket corners according to the device installation orientation (Horizontal/Vertical) as shown in Figure 2. 4. Genteelly connect the Flood sensor cable to its place as shown in Figure 3. Be aware that the connector can be inserted in only one direction. 5. In case you wish to install the device using the adhesive strips then attached them to the device and to the Flood sensor. 6. Continue with the pairing process. Horizontal Installation Vertical Installation 13 14 15 MOUNTING THE FLOOD SENSOR Mounting using adhesive tape: 1. Reveal first side of the smaller adhesive tape strip and attach it to the flood sensor (B). 2. Reveal the adhesive tape second side and attach the flood sensor to the wall. Mounting using screws: 1. Remove the screw cover (A) from the Flood sensor unit (B). 2. Mount the Flood sensor using the screw (C). In both cases: Mount the sensor at the desired fluid detection height from the floor (D). The fluid has to reach the two exposed Golden contacts (E) in order to give an alarm. MOUNTING THE DETECTOR Mounting using screws: 1. Separate the device from its bracket by unscrewing the holding screw and tilting the front cover as shown in Figure 1. 2. Mount the Bracket to the wall using the 3 screws and make sure the tamper screw (the middle screw) is tightened as seen on Figure 7. 3. Perform the Pairing process as described above in this document. 4. Place the device in the Bracket by inserting it back into appropriate position and validate receiving the Tamper Alert Off indication. 5. Fasten holding screw and close screw cover. Mounting using adhesive tape: 1. Remove the first protective paper of the adhesive tape strip and attach it to the back side of the device bracket as seen on Figure 7. 2. In Canada, visit www.vtechcanada.com. What’s in the box Your product package contains the following items. Save your sales receipt and original packaging in the event warranty service is necessary. Sensor unit overview 1 – Screw cover Slide to open or close the screw compartment case to reveal the battery compartment case and PAIRING button. 2 – Back cover 3 – LED light Flashes red for a while when the sensor is powered on. Flashes red once when a motion is detected. Flashes green when the sensor is in the registration mode. 4 – Motion detector 5 – PAIRING button Press and hold to enter the registration mode. 6 – Battery compartment case • • • • • Before use Install battery to the motion sensor Flip the ribbon across the battery compartment. Use a narrow pointed object such as a pencil to press and hold the PAIRING button on the motion sensor, until the LED light flashes green, to enter the registration mode. 1. 2. • • • 1. 2. When the registration process completes, the green LED light on the sensor will remain steady for about two seconds, and then turn off. The registration process takes about 90 seconds to complete. NOTES If the registration fails, take out the battery and place it aside for a minute to reset the sensor. Then, install the battery back and try the registration process again. Replacing a sensor If you have purchased this new VC7003 accessory sensor to replace an old sensor, follow the instructions to deregister your old sensor. To replace a sensor, you must deregister the registered sensor first, and then register this new sensor to your ULE compatible product. Deregister a sensor or all sensors: Refer to the online User’s manual of your ULE compatible product at www.vtechphones.com/support/manuals to deregister a sensor or all sensors. • • Motion detection range The motion sensor can detect a motion occurred at a distance of up to 40 feet (12 meters) from itself when it is mounted at the height of 7.9 feet (2.4 meters). It is recommended to mount the sensor at the height between 6.2 feet (1.9 meters) and 7.5 feet (2.3 meters) for optimal detection coverage. NOTE The numerical values in the following illustrations are for conceptual reference only. The actual angles and distances may vary upon the change in the mounted height of the sensor. • For motion detection of babies or pets: If you use the motion sensor only to detect the motion of babies or pets, you can mount the sensor at a lower position to shorten the minimum distance before reaching the detection area. Check the sensor before use The Motion sensor is more sensitive in detecting motions crossing the space in front of the sensor than that moving towards the sensor. Follow the steps below to check if you receive alerts at your ULE compatible product. Refer to the Installation guide or user’s manual of your ULE compatible product for the sensor alerts. 1. Place the sensor on a stable flat surface. 2. Walk across the area in front of the sensor. You will receive alerts at your ULE compatible product. The LED light on the motion sensor will flash red once. NOTE Once motion is detected, the sensor will only start to detect motion again after one minute. • • • Test the sensor signal strength You can mount the motion sensor at a location where family members or unwanted visitors are likely to be coming and going. 1. Take the sensor to the desired mounting location, and then hold it the desirable height (Refer to Motion detection range section). 2. Walk across the area in front of the sensor again to make sure you receive alerts at your ULE compatible product. NOTES If there is no alert received when you walk across the area in front of the sensor, move your ULE compatible product closer to the mounting location or move the sensor closer to the respective product. Use adhesive tape to hold the sensor temporarily in place.
