1 Marianne Bosley To: [email protected] Subject: Metrak #12889 Crystal Field Ltd. FCC ID: NLHWCS20 Hi Alice, Below are some admin issues I need to clear up before forwarding to technical review: 1. Confidentiality Request - I need a revised letter (see example that I have attached). I know that your customers very seldom request this, so you may not remember the few important things that need to happen with them. a. Reference 0.459 Rule section (this is from FCC Rules ). It must be referenced in the letter. b. FCC Identifier - You must indicate what the FCC ID is in the subject line of the letter. c. Exhibits to be witheld - you must be specific as to which you are requesting to be held confidential. The ones that the FCC usually allow without a problem are schematics and block diagrams. Anything else gets a bit tricky; for instance, if you were to state internal photos, you must state exactly what you have done to prevent the public from accessing the inside of the device and obtaining their own internal photos. Also, you must not list on the letter anything that we would not be sending to the FCC anyway (for Part 15 devices parts lists, PCB layouts, etc. are not required). The usual ones that are submitted for Part 15 are test report, photos (all), block diagrams, schematics, description, label and lcoation, and manual. You must also include in this letter why you are requesting it (for example, proprietary information that will never be in the hands of the public, etc. ) 2. Description - there wasn't one. 3. Test report - It looks like you have the wrong cover page (finderzkeeperz). Please submit correct report. Please respond and if you have any questions, let me know. Have a good day. Regards, Marianne Marianne T. Bosley EMC Administrator 410-354-3300 X 412 [email protected]

Operational Description

FCC ID: NLHWCS20 Circuit Description The 914.7(304.9x3)MHz crystal oscillator drives the base of Q4 the final/buffer amplifier. The modulation provided by U1. The output of Q4 has the matching network consisting of C1 and L1 that limit the harmonic content and effect the proper coupling of the antenna to the output stage. Antenna, Ground and Power Source There is no external antenna. There is no external ground connection. The ground is only that of the printed circuit board. Electric current is supplied by a 9 Volt (“6F22” size battery x 1) primary battery

The existing photographs are not clear and the PCBoard portion of the image is small and not good resolution. (I would suggest that you get closer to the PCBoard to take the photograph). 3) The Harmonics of the fundamental were apparently measured up to the 10th harmonics of 914.7MHz, but there is no indication of the frequency range of Spurious Emissions performed (the highest frequency listed is 205MHz). Please specify the frequency range of spurious measurements. These items must be cleared before the application can be completed. best regards, Chris Harvey MET Laboratories EMC [email protected] www.metlabs.com 800-638-6057 x-310 -----Original Message----- From:Alice Wong [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent:Wednesday, October 23, 2002 6:48 AM To:[email protected] Cc:[email protected]; EED - Choy, Kitty Subject:Check NLHWCS20 status Hi Marianne, Would you help me check the NLHWCS20 status, our client want to know the job status. The 2 attachments are much clearer and satisfy the request. However, for the frequency of test I must not have been very clear so I will try to be more descriptive in the need for completion of this application. I see that on page 10 of the report there is an indication that measurements were performed up to 9147MHz for the Harmonics of the fundamental. Page 11 of the report shows the other spurious emissions from the transmitter that are required to be either 50dB down from the fundamental or to the 15.209 limit. On this page there is no indication of the frequency range of measurements, and the highest frequency listed is 205MHz. Please provide the start and stop frequency (frequency range) for the measurements of the spurious emissions. I hope this clarifies the request.
