GD-W809N 1 1. Packing List Wireless router x1 Power adapter (DC) x1 ADSL splitter x 1 Quick Installation Guide x1 RJ45 Cable x1 RJ11 Cable x1 CD x1(user manual) Warranty card X1 2. Installing your wireless Router Step 1 Connect the ADSL interface of the device and the Modem interface of the splitter through a telephone cable. Connect the phone to the Phone interface of the splitter through a cable. Connect the incoming line to the Line interface of the splitter. The splitter has three interfaces: Line: Connect to a wall phone jack (RJ-11 jack). Modem: Connect to the ADSL jack of the device. Phone: Connect to a telephone set. Step 2 Connect the LAN interface of the device to the network card of the PC through an Ethernet cable (MDI/MDIX). Note: Use twisted-pair cables to connect with the hub or switch. Step 3 Plug one end of the power adapter to the wall outlet and connect the other end to the Power interface of the device. The following figure shows the application diagram for the connection of the router, PC, splitter and the telephone sets, when no telephone set is placed before the splitter. GD-W809N 2 Caution: The power specification is 12V DC, 500 mA. If the power adapter does not match the specification, it may damage the device. 3. Front Panel There are 5 LED indicators on the front panel of the wireless router. By observing their status, you can judge whether the device runs normally. The following table describes the status of LED indicators (from left to right) on the front panel. LED Indicator Color StatusDescription On The initialization of the device is successful. Power Green Off The device is powered off. GD-W809N 3 On Connection between the device and the physical layer of the office is established. Slow Blinks No signal is being detected. ADSL Green Fast Blinks The device is handshaking with the physical layer of the office. On The Internet connection is normal in the routing mode (for example: PPP dial-up is successful), and no Internet data is being transmitted. BlinksInternet data is being transmitted in the routing mode. Green Off The device is in the bridge mode. Internet Red On The Internet connection fails after successful synchronization in the routing mode (for example: PPP dial-up is failed). On The LAN connection is nomal and activated. BlinksData is being transmitted in the LAN or Internet data is being transmitted in the bridge mode. LAN Green Off The LAN interface is not connected. On The connection of WLAN interface is normal. Blink Data is transmitted through the WLAN interface. Wireless Green Off The WLAN connection is not established.. 4. Rear Panel z Power: Power socket, for connecting the power adapter. z LAN: LAN interface (RJ45), for connecting a hub, switch, or computer with network card on LAN. GD-W809N 4 z ADSL: WAN interface (RJ11), for connecting to the ADSL interface or a splitter through a telephone cable. z WLAN: Press the button and hold it for 1 second to enable WLAN. z Reset: For restoring the factory default settings. Note: The Reset button is in a small circular hole on the rear panel. If you want to restore the default settings, please press the Reset button gently 3~6 seconds with a fine needle inserted into the hole and then release the button. The system reboots and returns to the factory default settings. 5. Installation Options Step 1 Open the browser, and enter http://192.168.1.1/ in the IE address bar. Enter the user name (admin, by default) and password (admin, by default) in the login page. Click Login to log in to the main page. Step 2 Click Wizard and then you can follow the on-screen step-by-step instructions to configure the wireless router. You may also configure the router by referring to the User Manual included in the CD-ROM. It provides one RJ11 telephone interface, one RJ45 Ethernet interfaces. The telephone interface is used for connecting to the Internet provided by the telecom carrier. The Ethernet interfaces are used for connecting to the computer, through which you can access the Internet. Computers that are connected with the router through the Ethernet interfaces can establish a small local network area (LAN). Those computers can communicate with each other, sharing resources and files. The Gan9.8t92b-1 is an ideal broadband CPE solution for both home users who wish to share high-speed Internet access and small offices that wish to do business on the Internet. The Gan9.8t92b-1 has Web-based graphic user interface (GUI), in which you can easily modify the settings and connect to your ISP. It also provides flow statistics, connection status, and other detailed information. It supports static IP address, dynamic IP address, and PPPoE connection. The Gan9.8t92b-1 is easily upgraded and provides terminal users and ISP with the guarantee of future.
