11Mbps Wireless LAN Module User Manual Rev 0.9 Regulatory Compliance FCC Interference Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a resi- dential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful in- terference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: y Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. y Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. y Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. y Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. You are cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compli- ance could void your authority to operate the equipment. IMPORTANT NOTE: This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. In order to avoid the possibility of exceeding the FCC radio frequency exposure limits, human proximity to the antenna shall not be less than 20cm (8 inches) during normal operation. This transmitter must not be co-located or operation in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter Statements Need to be Shown on End Product Since this module is installed inside the end product, the end product should be affixed a label on visible area showing that this product contains a RF module, and also its FCC ID:O6M-WM300. Wireless LAN Printer Server 2. Wireless LAN Ethernet Adapter 3. Wireless LAN Access Point / Gateway 4. Wireless LAN Router 5. Wireless LAN Broadband Router 6. Wireless LAN Presentation Gateway Features • Wire-free access to networked resources from anywhere beyond the desktop • Low interference & high susceptibility guarantee reliable performance • Delivers data rate up to 11 Mbps • Dynamically shifts between 11, 5.5, 2, and 1 Mbps network speed, based on signal strength, for maximum avail- ability and reliability of connection • Uses 2.4GHz frequency band, which complies with worldwide requirement • Used on embedded operating systems • Ensures great security by providing the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) defined in the IEEE 802.11 standard What is Wireless LAN? Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) systems offer a great number of advantages over traditional wired sys- tems. WLANs are flexible and easy to setup and manage. They are also more economical than wired LAN systems. Using radio frequency (RF) technology, WLANs transmit and receive data through the air. WLANs combine data connectivity with user mobility. For example, users can roam from a conference room to their office without being disconnected from the LAN. Using WLANs, users can conveniently access shared information, and network administrators can configure and augment networks without installing or moving network cables. WLAN technology provides users with many convenient and cost saving features: • Mobility: WLANs provide LAN users with access to real-time information anywhere in their organiza- tion, providing service opportunities that are impossible with wired networks. • Ease of Installation: Installing is easy for novice and expert users a…

FCC ID: O6M-WM300 ADT No.910409R02 Modular Approval Request Letter Advance Data Technology May 2, 2002 Dear Application Examiner, BROMAX communications’s WLAN Module, FCC ID: O6M-WM300, would like to have your authorization as a modular approval. The requirements of Public Notice DA00-1407 have been met and shown on the following statements. 1. “The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding.”: The radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see exhibition External Photo. 2. “The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs.” The EUT has buffered data inputs, it is integrated in chip ISL3871IN33. 3. “The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation.” There is a regulator in the DC input port, the part number is AME8805. 4. “The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of section 15.203 and 15.204(C).” The EUT meets the FCC antenna requirements. The spurious emission, unique antenna connector and photo of antennas are shown in the test report. 5. “The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration” The EUT was tested in a stand-alone configuration via a PCMCIA adapter card. Please see section Photographs of Test Configuration in the test report. 6. “The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number.” Please see exhibition Label Sample for the FCC ID of this module. And also in the exhibition Users Manual, there are instructions give to the OEM on how to label the end product. FCC ID: O6M-WM300 ADT No.910409R02 7. “The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements.” The EUT is compliant with all applicable FCC rules. Detail instructions for maintaining compliance are given in the Users Manual. 8. “The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements.” The EUT is compliant with all applicable RF exposure requirements. RF Exposure is addressed in the RF exposure exhibition. Please contact me if you have any further questions. Thanks for your attention. Operational Description

FCC ID: O6M-WM300 ADT No.910409R02 Operational Description The transmitter of the EUT (11Mbps Wireless LAN Module) is powered by host equipment via a modified PCMCIA interface. The antenna are dipole and printed antenna, and the antenna connector type is MMCX. Under normal use condition, the user has to keep at least 20cm separation distance between radiator and the body of the user. The other instruction, please have a look at the users manual. DSSS Information This device is Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum, the data is mixed by pseudorandom code which is an orthogonal code. The mixed data is digital modulated by BPSK and QPSK technique depends on the data rates. The CCK coding is applied for increasing the data rate, and also the processing gain will be increased. The bit rates are 1,2,5.5,11Mbps, the symbol rates are 1,1,1.375,1.375Mbps, the chip rates are always 11Mbps. So, the Chip/symbol is 11,11,8 and 8 respectively. Although is higher bit rate, the processing gain is lower than 10, but the CCK coding used in higher bit rate will provide 2.2dB coding gain.
