RADIO FREQUCNCY INTERFERENCE STATEMENT Note : This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B Digital device, pursuant to part 15, Subpart B of the FCC Rules. This equipment generates, Uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed and used in accordance with The instructions, it may cause interference to radio communications. The limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference in a Residential situation. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a Particular installation. If this equipment does cause interference to radio or television Reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment on and off, the user is Encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:  Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna of the affected radio or television.  Increase the separation between the equipment and the affected receiver.  Connect the equipment and the affected receiver to power outlets on separate circuits.  Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. DTR5000N Safety Precautions SAFETY CAUTIONS This IRD has been manufactured to meet international safety standards. Please read carefully the following safety precautions before you handle the IRD. MAINS SUPPLY Use only 85-265V AC 50/60Hz. LOCATION Locate the IRD indoor place properly to prevent any hazards or malfunctions from lightening, raining and direct sunlight. CLEANING 1. Disconnect the IRD power cord from the wall socket before cleaning it. 2. Use a cloth lightly dampened with water (no solvents) to clean the exterior of the IRD. OVERLOADING Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords or adapters. These can cause fire or electrical shock. VENTILATION 1. Do not block the decoderโ€™s ventilation slots. 2. Ensure that a free airflow is maintained around the IRD. 3. NEVER stand the IRD on soft furnishings or carpets. 4. Do not use or store the IRD where it is exposed to direct sunlight or near a heater. NEVER stack other electronic equipment on top of the IRD. LIQUIDS Keep liquids away from the IRD. SAMILL OBJECTD Coins or other small objects must be kept away from the IRD. They can fall through the ventilation slots of the IRD and cause serious damage. ATTACHMENTS Do not use any attachments that are not recommended. These may cause hazards or damage the equipment. CONDITIONAL ACCESS and/or COMMON INTERFACE MODULE Main power cord must be disconnected before entering or removing the CAM and/or Common Interface Module. CONNECTION TO THE SATELLITE DISH LNB Before connecting or disconnecting the cable from the satellite dish to the IRD, disconnect the IRD from the main power. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN DAMAGE THE LNB. EARTHING The LNB cable MUST BE EARTHED to the system earth for the satellite dish. The earthling system must comply with SABS 061. LIGHTNING 1. It is recommended that the IRD should remain connected at all times to the main power supply and satellite dish (except when working on the LNB). 2. However, the Manufacturerโ€™s instructions for safeguarding other equipment connected to the IRD, i,e, TV set, etc., must be followed during lightning storms. 3. Lightning protection devices for the terrestrial antenna, mains, LNB and the modem telephone line, are essential. SERVICING 1. Do not attempt to service this product yourself. 2. Refer all servicing to qualified service agents. DTR5000N Safety Precautions DTR5000N Safety Precautions Introduction About This Manual This manual describes how to install and operate the Model DTR5000N. Only qualified personnel should handle any problems beyond this manual. General Description The DTR5000N is a high-performance IRD (Integrated Receiver Decoder). DTR5000N is fully compliant with the MPEG2 based DVB transmission standards for in-home reception of satellite digital broadcast services such as digital TVs, radio channels, and data . The most significant feature of the DTR5000N is to support a great variety of data broadcast services such as the download of software, Internet services, and delivery of audio and/or video signals. In the case of data broadcast services, a client will transmit service requests over the terrestrial link (i.e. PSDN/PSTN) to a server located somewhere on the Internet. The server, then, will route the requested service to a satellite up-link site where it will be broadcast to all the clients over satellite network. The following diagram shows how DTR5000N can be used in the Satellite Data/TV broadcasting network for personal users or corporate users with LAN facilities. DTR5000N Safety Precautions Fig. 1 DTR5000N in Satellite Data/TV broadcasting network The DTR5000N first recovers MPEG2 Transport Stream packets received from the satellite. Then the device determines if it should receive the packet or not, based on the dedicated PID of the data broadcast services and MAC address or IP address filtering. Once the device decides to accept the data, then, it extracts the IP datagrams from those packets using the same DVB data broadcasting specification. After converting them into Ethernet frames, the DTR5000N distributes the resultant Ethernet frames onto LAN (Local Area Network) so that all users attached to the LAN can receive the Ethernet data. How to use DTR5000N in the Satellite Network Here are four typical examples of DRT5000N usage. The first one is the case that DTR5000N is directly connected to the Hub. The second one is that the DTR5000N is connected to the Router. The third case is PPP connection with dial-up modem. Data flow & Routing with single subscriber IP address Direct Multicasting and Unicasting Here, the DTR5000N is directly connected to the hub. One IP address is assigned to the whole group from ISP. User sends data request information through the LAN and receives the data via Satellite. There can be two modes of data reception : Unicast and Multicast. Fig 2. In case of direct multicast that DTR5000N is directly connected to the Hub, no other system is required except the DTR5000N. DTR5000N receives the data through the Satellite and puts them onto the LAN. The DTR5000N takes the role of filtering the IP data for Multicasting. Regarding Unicast, you need Proxy Server and DTR5000N that supports ARP and IGMP protocol. User sends requests to the LAN at his PC. Here, the source address is IP address of the PC. Then this request goes to the Proxy Server. The Proxy Server keeps the user IP address (original source address) for later use and sends the request and IP address of DTR5000N(new source address) to the Internet. Then, the requested data comes through Satellite to the DTR5000N because the Proxy Server gave the IP address of DTR5000N as a new source address instead of the original source address (IP of the PC). DTR5000N, then, sends the Internet data to Proxy Server, where Proxy Server recovers the original IP address of the PC and sends the Data to the user. In this way, anyone on the LAN can receive IP Unicast or multicast data via satellite with its full speed. Indirect Multicasting and Unicasting Fig 3. The Network configuration is almost the same as the direct multicasting except that the DTR5000N is connected to the router instead of the hub. So, IP Multicasating data passes the DTR5000N and is filtered at the router. Other data flows are the same as that of direct connection to hub. Data flow & Routing with dial-up modem (PPP) To support this function, you need DRT5000N with TCP/IP protocol and PC software to notify the IP address of the PC to the DTR5000N. Fig 4. Data flow and routing for dial-up modem When user calls the ISP with PSTN line, the IP is assigned to the PC. Then the PC software automatically notifies its IP address to the DTR5000N. Now, the requested Internet data of the PC user comes to the DTR5000N via satellite. Hardware Description Here, you will be given the explanation of the front and rear panel of DTR5000N. Each of display, ports, connections will be specifically explained. Front Panel Configuration 1 LED DISPLAY This shows the channel number or other information as follows : During power is off, the dash โ€˜-โ€˜ will be displayed at each digit, which indicates that your DTR5000N is in stand-by mode. Immediately after your decoder turns on, โ€˜C . . .โ€™ will in turn light up at each digit, which means that your DTR5000N is ready to operate. If your DTR5000N locks a channel, its channel number will be displayed. Whenever you change the channel, the number of the changed channel will be displayed. 2 REMOTE SENSOR It receives the infrared signal from Remote Control and operates your DTR5000N. 3    Smart Card and/or PCMCIA Card Slot (Option), or Not Used These two slots can be used either for Conditional Access System with Smart card, or Common Interface Module with PCMCIA card, or may not be used at DTR5000N Hardware Description all in case of free-to-air only according to the option configuration of the DTR5000N. When you want to watch Pay-per-view TV program or enjoy Internet service on a usage basis, you should purchase a smart card or PCMCIA card from the service provider and insert it into this slot. The detailed usage explanation will come with the card that you purchased. 5 CHANNEL DOWN You can sequentially select the previous service by pressing this DOWN key. 6 POWER This key allows you to turn your DTR5000N on or off. 7 CHANNEL UP You can use this key to select the next channel sequentially. Rear Panel Configuration 1 LNB IN Satellite antenna input terminal. The LNB power (14/18V) and the switching signals (22KHz/DiSEqC) are also supplied to LNB through this terminal. 2 LNB OUT It is for connecting another STB to your DTR5000N. Connect this terminal to LNB IN terminal of the other STB via RF cable. 3 RS-232 serial port An operator for customer services can use this port for the transmission of the preprogrammed channel information from a PC to the DTR5000N. Or this port can also be used for main board testing and software upgrading. 4 SYSTEM monitor port This connector is connected to PC and used ONLY for MAINTENANCE such as software upgrading and After Service. 5 LAN port It should be connected to LAN via Ethernet cable in order to support data DTR5000N Hardware Description broadcast service and telnet monitor. 6 VIDEO output terminal Connect this terminal to video input terminal of TV or VCR. 7 AUDIO L/R output terminals Connect these terminals to audio L/R input terminals of TV, VCR, or Hi-Fi audio system. 8 S-VIDEO output terminal This terminal is connected to S-VIDEO input terminal of TV or VCR to output S-VIDEO signal. 9 VCR SCART connector Connect this connector to that of VCR via a SCART cable. 10 TV SCART connector Connect this connector to that of TV via a SCART cable. 10 VCR SCART connector Connect this connector to that of VCR via a SCART cable. 11 0/12V OUT Connect this terminal to an external 0/12Volt switch box. 12 TV OUT Connect this terminal to the input of TV or VCR via a coaxial cable. 13 ANT IN Connect this terminal to a terrestrial UHF antenna via coaxial cable. 14 POWER INPUT Connect the power cord of AC85V to 265V, 50/60Hz 15 GROUND How to Connect Your DTR5000N to Various Systems As shown in the figure below, you can connect your DTR5000N to a TV set, a VCR and a Hi Fi system. Consult your local supplier for assistance in setting-up your system best suited to your requirements. CAUTION ! Please DO NOT plug in the main power supply cord until you have finished all other connection! DTR5000N Remote Control Remote Control Remote Control Unit This section describes how to operate the DTR5000N using the buttons on your Remote Control Unit as shown below. (1) POWER To turn your DTR5000N on/off. (2) TV/SAT To toggle from TV mode to satellite broadcasting mode and vice versa (3) Number To select channel number or input parameters on menu. System Connection Power on Main Menu/Installation/ LNB Configuration LNB Configuration Setting Auto Installation Channel List Favorite Channel List  Insert all LNB information of your Antenna.  Save changes by pressing O.K button.  DTR5000N will automatically searches and saves into channel list all TV, Radio, and Data channels from a satellite.  If you push List button of the remote controll, you should see all channel lists that you saved.  Move to Menu/Installation/Edit Channels/Add to Favorite  Choose Favorite Group on the right side of the screen.  Press F1 to transfer the selected channel from the channel list to Favorite Channel List.  Connect DTR5000N with all peripheral devices.  Turn on the power of DTR5000N and other devices.  Move to the menu of Installation, and then LNB configuration Press List to see the channel list Main Menu/Installation/ Channel Search Press List to see the channel list  At Channel Search Menu, enter all the Transponder information of a transponder.  Press O.K. The DTR5000N will automatically find channel information for that transponder.

DTR5000N Remote Control Data set-up process using DTR5000N menu system How to get into Menu System from your PC using Telne t If you are connected to DTR5000N with a PC on a network, you need to communicate with DTR5000N by using factory default IP. After installing the LAN connection or direct connection using Ethernet cable, you can change the IP address of DTR5000N into the IP that you want by using โ€œdtr_conn.exeโ€ that manufacturer supplies as follows. For network connection, please see Fig 2 or 3. 1. Your DTR5000N has a factory default local IP address (192.168.0.1). 2. After connecting your DTR5000N to your PC via LAN network or Ethernet cable, run Telnet software โ€œdtr_conn.exeโ€ in DOS or UNIX environment and get connected to the DTR5000N using the IP address of DTR5000N. In LAN connection, - Standalone : One PC is connected to DTR5000N via LAN cable Sub-net mask is not used. - Network : Multi-users are connected to DTR5000N via LAN network. Sub-net mask is used to filter IP group .  Insert MAC address that was assigned by ISP.  Move to Network Interface menu  Insert local IP address of DTR5000N and Destination IP.  Destination IP is the IP address that DTR5000N sends data to.  When you change IP address, DTR5000N automatically reboots.  Select filter type either IP or MAC  At the Edit Data Channel List, enable the data channel that you want by selecting โ€˜Enableโ€™. You are ready to receive Internet Data DTR5000N Remote Control  telnet 192.168.0.1 3. Now Telnet will ask for a password. Enter factory default password ( 0, 0, 0, 0 ). Then the Telnet prompt will pop up. Type โ€œmenuโ€.  menu 4. Now, the following โ€œMain Menuโ€ will pop up on your PC monitor The menu structure is explained in โ€œFig 5. Flow chart of menu systemโ€. The explanation of each menu is given in the following chapter โ€œMenu Operationโ€. Although the background picture is different is different, the structure and explanation are the same. Telnet Menu system has its own key stroke explanation on the bottom of each display whenever needed. How to change Filter and Destination IP address of DTR5000N on the network by using โ€œdtr_conn.exeโ€ software. After your initial connection with the DTR5000N by using the factory default IP address (192.168.0.1) of DTR5000N, you need to change the IP address of your DTR5000N that fits your local network. You click on the โ€œdtr_connโ€ icon. Then following window will pop up. Select the number of Filter IP address that you received from your local ISP Main Menu Channel Guide Channel List Parental Control Installation AccessGate About DTR5000N DTR5000N Remote Control and also select the number of local IP address of your PC. Click OK. Then following window pops up. Enter the DTR5000N IP address and password (or if you changed the IP address, enter the new one) and click OK. Then โ€œdtr_connโ€ will automatically transfer the Filter IP and Destination IP to DTR5000N. Now, you can run the web browser and receive the Internet data via Satellite. Your data request will be transferred to your local ISP via the LAN connection.

Multicast Data Reception Set-up In order to enjoy multicast service, the only thing you need to do is connecting your DTR5000N to the network or to your PC. (See Fig. 2 ) in previous section. Select Data Channel  By using remote controller, select either a data channel (if you want to connect with only one data channel) or any TV or Radio channel (if you want multiple of data service) of a transponder. Here if you select a TV or Radio channel of a transponder having several data channels, you can simultaneously run several Multicast data.  The data channel information can be found in the package given by the ISP that you subscribe to.  Run Multicast programs such as Mediaplayer, NetShow, or Streamworks. Run Multicast Application Unicast Data Reception Set-up In order to enjoy the unicast service, your computer should be connected to DTR5000N either via network ( Fig.2, 3 ) or via Ethernet cable (Fig. 4 ).
